Jets Want To See More On Anthony Levine

According to NFP, the New York Jets have requested more film on FS Anthony Levine from Tennessee State.

The Jets had a representative down in Tennessee yesterday for his pro day and were impressed enough with his performance to want to see more

According to a league source, Levine fastest time in the 40-yard dash was 4.43 seconds, unofficially, and he bench pressed 225 pounds 19 times.

Levine also turned in a 4.05 in the short shuttle and a 20.97 in the 60-yard shuttle with a 35-inch vertical leap and a 9-6 broad jump.

lso spotted on the TSU campus, per our source: the New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, Chicago Bears, Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Jets, Eagles and other teams all requested more film of Levine.

A lot of the time you can find some real hidden gems at these smaller schools, it seems like his work out impressed just about everyone attending, and even with Brodney Pool on board, a late round FS is the way to go, and you can add Levine's name onto the list of possible suitors.

Would be a nice late round addition

Word has it the Jets will pursue a WR in the first round now. A glaring need on a team without many needs, I’ll give you that. I’m just disappointed that we’re neglecting the D in favor of strengthening the O. I thought it was going to be the other way around, in fact I was of the opinion that’s what we had to do to keep our chances this season.

So hopefully we can make up for it with smart late round picks for defense. This one is a perfect example.

I dont think they can rule out a WR

I just made a fan post, and one scenario I could see is Dez Bryant. Ive seen a couple mocks where he has slipped to us. I hope the team does the work on him to see if he is a worthy gamble. I think Odrick or an OLB is also something we can and must consider. Iupati too would be a good pick I think.

Honestly, it doesn't matter what we hear.

We have never heard anything about what the Jets will do in any draft that ends up being conclusive. They will do what they want to do, and they are sure not going to let some reporter find out they want to draft a receiver, if they actually want to draft a receiver. I wouldn’t even be surprised if they feed this out to their own front office guys, knowing there will be leaks. I would be out of my head shocked if they go wide receiver in the first round, unless it is some how Dez Bryant. Mike T uses the media as puppets to get his story out, like when he told them Kerry Rhodes would be a big part of our team next year.

You know if we actually wanted a receiver, then there is no way that they would let out that we want a receiver. There might be a lot of sports writers that think they have an idea what Mike T is going to do. They don’t know shit. If they take Golden Tate in the first round, even though it’s about the last thing I would do, I will trust the move because I trust Mike, but like you Bro, I would rather see the pick going towards defense, if not for a high impact player on offense, and I feel confident that it will. Dez Bryant or Ryan Mathews I’d be fine with, but other then that it seems like we pick defense. Whether that is safety, corner, linebacker, or line is anybody’s guess.

I don't want to advertise

but try the story about Jets taking a CB at 29 before getting Cromartie on the leagues website.

Man it has to be some DE or OLB at 29

I feel this is our most glaring need. A smart QB can eat a blitz up. I want that outside rusher that teams needs the RB or TE to stay in and help. The blitz would be even more feared then. Maybe we get AT from the Pats, but we need to address that need.

I agree, but Anthony Levine is not being considered as a first round pick, we likely want to see more film to decide whether he will be worth a 5th/6th round pick, than a 1st/2nd.
