Nathan Vasher?

He was just released by Chicago. I like this guy, just was wondering what you guys though, I'll keep it simple here,  not scared of contact, has big play ability, can help on special teams.

Nathan Vasher 71yd Pic six TD (via impress3)

Most of the video on him was from college, he has some big play ability, especially playing nickel, and he isn't scared to hit, and played special teams in college and was good at it. He's relatively young, at 28 and was a part of the Bears great defenses earlier in the decade. I think he'd be a good pick up, what do you guys think?

Jets Cornerback Conundrum

He definitely has more talent than Hill IMO, and would probably be a solid Nickel and Dime guy, most of the time I have seen him (and it hasn’t been lately, did he start for the Bears?) he was wildly inconsistent. Would hate him on the outside, but he is a former pro bowler, who playing inside, given the chance to be physical at the line, he could be very interesting. Remember how we used Strickland in pre-season and initially when he was healthy, a lot of the time coming off the edge in a disguised delayed blitz. We could do that with Vasher. I think he could be productive in this system.

I don't watch a ton of Bears,

but he hasn’t started in a couple of years I don’t think, has been playing mostly nickel, but he has some great seasons 04-06, with 16 ints. It seems like as the Bears defense declined, so did he, you are right, he has been very inconsistent the last couple of years, I think with less responsibility and more talent around him he could contribute for us.

I don’t get see many Bears games either, so I only really know from the hi-lites i saw from his pro bowl season. I think he has a history of being injured a lot. So maybe he’ll be really good in the nickel and dime, like you guys said above. It will limit his snaps and he’ll be less likely to be involved in the run-game. Wouldn’t mind taking a flier on him. Can always cut him if he doesn’t show us anything in camp.

Injuries to another of our nickel and dime corners, not sure I’m game for that lol, I really haven’t heard or seen much of anything about him around 2007 or so. Need a Bear fan to really give a proper opinion on him, I remember what he used to do well, no idea if he still does it well though.

pusrue – just b/c that was a nasty hit, that guy got layed out. He has also shown he can be a productive player and is a very physical CB. Lets see what he can do as a nickel/dime guy in Rex’s D.

I just don't think he's as good as he used to be

and dont think our defense will improve him.

But if Mike T or Rex sees something they like I’m game.

The Bears are spent.

That team has been awful.

I'd say pursue with a one year deal...

See what he’s got. Seems that as the years went by, that team got less physical. Especially when Urlacher (Beast mode) went down. That ship hasn’t really been the same in recent years. Maybe he needs a change in scenery and teammates that are hungry. Anyway, because he’s physical, he’d be a tremendous help in nickel and dime situations. I think he’s still got it. Also, Lowery needs to be a free safety. I think his cover skills are not good, plain and simple. I’m a huge fan of his…. but he’s been disappointing when he’s out there for the most part. I think he’d be well in hawkin’ around in the secondary… IMO.
