LT To Pick Jets....(??)
Citing three people with knowledge of the situation, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that free agent LaDainian Tomlinson will sign with the Jets.
The Union-Trib's Kevin Acee admits he hasn't confirmed the report "beyond a shadow of a doubt" yet, but it's expected that Tomlinson will announce his new team late Sunday or on Monday. The run-first Jets can offer more carries than the Vikings, and may be willing to pay LT more to complement Shonn Greene.

Usually when you get things coming out saying 100% by sources, it usually means that it is. Still, won't believe it until it's done, but it's looking good for all the LT fans.

Why?
They needed a veteran running back, and surely you’re not worried about the contract in an uncapped year. As for LT versus Thomas Jones, see all the excellent points made the last couple of days.

We have other need areas in the draft, rather just sign a veteran here
Now is LT the best fit, not sure I think Parker, and Westbrook might be better options. Although I’m also not convinced LT is washed up, SD was awful running across the board last year, and I blame it more on the line, its not like Sproles ran any better, and he’s electric if he gets a hole or any space.
Sproles did run a lot better. His average was almost half a yard better per carry.

That could be deceptive. LT was the guy who got the ball in short yardage and goal line situations. That hurts the average.

3.3 for LT, 3.7 for Sproles,I wouldn't call that a lot better neither was good the line wasn't doing their job
Sproles is the type of guy that should be avg. high 4 at least he’s a speed guy.
The guy has nothing left! Sure he is a great receiver out of the backfield but so is Leon, who last time I checked, is still on the team. So now we have 2 RB’s that fill the same role? I just don’t get it. I was wrong about LD’s injury reputation but I just don’t get the fascination from a football standpoint. When it comes to a marketing ploy, well that’s a whole other story.

Leon is no lock to be 100% healthy, or 100% his old self...
and even then he never proved he could be an every down player, the Jets may be thinking sell high, before Leon shows he’s nothing more than a 3rd down back, or that he lost a step due to injury.
The Leon situation is looking an awful lot like the LaMount Jordan situation (further complicated by injury) years ago. Jets will not use him as the every down back this year, he will want to be an every down player, and want #1 money next, so they will will most likely loose him for nothing. If they can pick up LT as the back-up and deal Leon for a 2nd rounder or something else decent in return, I’m all for it. They will be better long term.
+1
I agree, if we can get a 2nd rounder for Leon, that is serious value for a 28 year old coming off major surgery looking for a long term contract.

But i’d like to make LD the 3rd down back, and draft a back-up for Greene that could be an every down guy if needed.
Well it depends on who and where, I mean if Spiller is there in the first I'd take him...
even Jahvid Best, later on I would use a pick but its not like we have a ton, I would think priorities would be DE, WR, CB, and S before RB in this scenario.
If we can pick up a pick for Leon, and have one first and two second, we can go DE/WR/RB in the first three, and then try and pick up someone like Rolle in the 4th, or another CB/S type which would give us some flexibility.

Last time I saw Leon he had broken his leg. The Jets would be crazy to assume he’s ok and more depth is not needed. The fact that they gave an all pro just a second round tender and nobody has bitten yet is all you need to know. And your statement that all we need is a third down back, assumes that Shonn Greene will take care of the rest, and THAT statement is ridiculously premature. The guy’s never been an NFL starter, and when he finally became the featured back in the playoffs, he went down at the most important time in the Colts game. I’m glad the Jets recognize the need for another running back, even if some fans don’t.

LOL Childress
I know it’s not official, but how stupid does Childress’ comments the other day about how LT to the Vikings was essentially a done deal, and how the Jets’ visit was just a courtesy call look now? No wonder Favre didn’t listen to him when he wanted to take him out of the game! I guess he can cry into one of those purple LT jerseys they were selling yesterday at the NFL shop.

Posted on San Diego Tribune's twitter:
“LT just told me he doesn’t know where he’s going yet. That means he hasn’t “officially” made up his mind"
I heard he said “I’m not a Jet yet.” To me that means they’re working out minor details. I would think it’s going to get done.

WOW! I bet this guy feels like a complete ass now that they are saying he hasn’t made a decision. That is why you believe nothing until Schefter confirms it.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, we have another source saying that LT will sign with the Jets tomorrow
Anyone think this is not going to happen:

It’s funny that everyone has it except ESPN, but when they finally confirm, they’ll be saying it’s their “insider scoop.”

Haha, true that, there was one a few weeks back, one source, I think sports illustrated had it up for around 30 minutes, and then all of a sudden an article appears on ESPN saying there inside source has ‘broke’ the news.
