HC Rex Ryan had weight-loss surgery last night.  Dennis Waszak, Jr. of The Associated Press is pretty much the source of the story, and all the papers are citing or reprinting his story:

Ryan underwent outpatient weight-loss procedure Saturday to help him fight obesity.

Ryan weighed 340 pounds at the start of last season, gaining at least 30 pounds after he was hired by the Jets in January 2009. He even tried a liquid diet during training camp and lost 20 pounds, but quickly gained it right back.

Who will open up the New Meadowlands?  Randy Lange of NewYorkJets.com writes that "the NFL has said the game will be decided by a coin toss."

However, Dennis Waszak Jr. writes that that the "NFL would not confirm a flip would occur."

CB Antonio Cromartie has a foundation for youth in underserved communities.

FS Jim Leonhard has a football skills camp for high school athletes.

Gang Green couldn't convince RB LaDainian Tomlinson to sign before leaving.

More connections after the jump.

Star-divide

Rich Cimini writes that the Jets are still in touch with LaDainian's agents.

Mark Cannizzaro thinks the Jets won't give him more money than RB Thomas Jones received with the Chiefs.

JetNation.com writes about all the Tomlinson hoopla.

NFL FanHouse wonders whether LaDainian is washed up.

Dan Leberfeld analyzes the Tomlinson situation and other Jets issues.

ESPN.com thinks TJ has lost fantasy value by joining Kansas City.

Rex, DC Mike Pettine and DB Coach Dennis Thurman have wanted Cro since his pro day.

TE Chris Baker has taken a backup role in Seattle.

Kevin Mawae is still in charge of the players.

The union and the league don't agree on benefits for retired players.

Here is the state of the Bills from The Fifth Down.
