Jon Alston Signs With Tampa Bay
The Jets took a look at former Raiders linebacker Jon Alston earlier in the week, but he signed with the Bucs.
Bucs signed LB Jon Alston, the former Raider.
Not a huge loss. I'm not really sure where Alston would have fit in as a defensive backup. He was probably going to play a special teams role exclusively.
One of the interesting things to watch that nobody will speak of is how the Jets will replace special teamers like Marques Murrell and Wallace Wright.

we definitely need to start making moves to add depth and special teamers. i was very upset when wright and murrell. special teams aces are probably the most underrated commodity in football and we let two get away from us. the longer we wait to replace them, the more quality players will fall through our fingers.
No need to worry.
Special teamers will come through UDFAs and waivers.
and the home of the... JETS!!!

i disagree. in the long run they usually come through UDFAs but not for next year. kassim osgood has been maybe the best special teamer in football over the past 6 years and the jaguars gave him a 3 year deal worth about 3 million a year. murrell and wright were signed early in the free agency period. other teams are taking all the good ones off the market early. ted ginn is going to have 2 more field days against us next year if we dont start moving.
