Business ain't fun
Poor TJ. He doesn’t deserve to be in the position he’s in, and yet it’s in both his best interest and the best interest of the team that he accepts the reduced salary. There’s something incredibly unjust about that, but I hope he makes the right decision and remains a Jet.

It sucks, but I believe even Curtis Martin has had to take a paycut before.

Sure, that’s just football. What worries me is that TJ has shown in the past (particularly in Chicago) that he is unwilling to agree to something like this. Contract matters are always a sore subject with him, not to mention Drew Rosenhaus.

You just said it. After what TJ has accomplished, can we afford his going rate?
I want TJ to stay, but what works against him is that we have the best O-line in the league, Shonn Greene has emerged and Brian Westbrook was released.

He does have Rosenhaus as his agent . I think.
He also was paid 900,000 this past year, I think 3 million now is well worth the year of 1400 yards.

Dream Scenario...
Draft Hughes at 29, trade up to get Shipley early in the second round, make a trade for Cromartie.
Im not a fan of Cro (especially after the Greene TD), but the guy can cover. Im more comfortable having a CB that can cover and is reluctant to hit, than I am with having a hitter that has trouble covering.
Defense would be set for years if Hughes works out. Offense would also be set for years.
