First thing- For the Jets to even think about it they have to get Asomugha to renegotiate his contract, if he does then a trade is possible.
There are a couple of possibilities on how to that. And they include trading away a good player for picks.
2-If the Jets can find a decent safety (maybe Antre Rolle if released) they can trade Rhodes. He could fetch a third rounder.
3-Lito Shepard could be packaged with Rhodes and bring a six rounder
With a new set of picks the Jets could make an offer like this:
This year's first, fourth and seventh round picks and the second round pick next year (Hate trading away future picks but is worth it here) And include a player like Wright, Clowney or Gholston in there and most teams would be hard pressed not to accept. Maybe with one less pick.
This scenario would leave the Jets with one more pick in the second and a third rounder, wich could be used to take players like Jordan Shipley, Toby Gerhart (RB may fall to late second round), Andrew Quarless (TE) and/or Reshad Jones (SS). or any other players. It would also give them one more late pick.
To me it would be a win situation, we could then look to reinforce the lines next year.
I know some of you want to cut off my head for this but it is an exciting prospect. One that makes some sense (at least in my head) and helps the Jets get better where they need to get better and some extra picks. Of course this is all just speculation and maybe Jones would not bring a second rounder but is good to dream.
