YES!!!!!!!!!!!!

42 saves, stopped everything thrown his way!

USA capitalized on the counterattacks when they had to, and got it done.

Will probably be Luongo in net from here on out for Team Canada. WHAT A UPSET THOUGH

Zebras did all they could to keep Team Canada in the game

Endless penalties in the 3rd period.

That last PP leading to their third goal was totally unwarranted and garbage. USA basically had a 4:30 span which encompassed 4 minutes of penalty killing…. and Crosby capitalized towards the end of it.

But the better team won in the end. U-S-A U-S-A !!!!!!

Some of you are Rangers fans. Some are Islanders fans. Some are Devils fans. I root for the Penguins, but tonight we all celebrate together.

I felt good going into this game. Canada reminds me of all of those underachieving American basketball teams from earlier in the decade, a collection of stars with the weight of a nation on it. Stars had to play roles they are weren’t used to. The American squad is a team with role players who are used to being role players.

And Miller was the other reason I felt good. In a tournament like this having an elite goalie is like putting an ace pitcher on the mound every night.

That is a very good analogy actually. Had not even heard that comparison yet.

An all-star team comprised of the most individual talent (by far), but can’t play well together.

Like you said USA is full of role players, and they play like a team. Great camaraderie.

You also can’t discount pressure. There’s so much pressure on Canada right now to win that gold, and that will only magnify after tonight. The US doesn’t have that. If they win, they’ll be heroes. If they lose, everybody will forget it in like a day.

always a great story when a bunch of role players defeat an all-star team

I’ll use the basketball analogy again. It’s tough to be together with guys for two practices then live to your potential as a team. What was the turning point with USA Basketball? When they started putting a team together instead of a collection of talent. They added a 3 point sniper (Michael Redd). They played together for 3 summers building chemistry. Stars like LeBron and Wade embraced roles as complimentary players. It’s not just talent in these competitions.

Is hockey a sport???

No doubt it takes a certain level of skill, as does golf. But is hockey an athletic endeavor?

It definitely is.

Can you take one of those hits, and then just pick up your teeth and keep on playing? lol.
