CB Will Allen Nabbed for DUI

It seems the Fish fans and players alike are already feeling the pressure heading into next season.

At least Miami Dolphins CB Will Allen is, as he was pulled over on Saturday night and charged with Driving Under the Influence.

According to ESPN.Com, he was detained in Miami Beach and is currently being held at a pretrial detention center where he will see a judge.

The arrest affidavit states that Allen drove up to a roadway blocked by police and told them he needed to get through. An officer reported that Allen smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes.

Records have not indicated whether or not he has attained an attorney, and he is currently being held on $1000 bond.

No, it's not

The guy’s lucky to be alive. He was double the legal limit.

What was his BAC?

I was looking for the official report confirming it, but couldn’t find one.

It’s definitely not, sorry if anything was questionable on there.

I guess this came through in the Stallworth post, but there aren’t many things I hate more than drunk driving. Over 1,600 people are dead since the new year because of drunk driving. It’s so needless. Just don’t drive if you’re going to drink. It’s not that hard.

Especially these guys who have the means to either hire a driver, rent a limo, or at least call a cab. These guys should be punished more than the avg joe. Theres no excuse for there getting behind a wheel whatsoever.

by Crackback on Feb 21, 2010 7:37 PM EST up reply actions

the average joe needs to be punished more for it too. i keep reading about repeat offenders and the system needs to do a better job of preventing this or increase the punishments severely.

by random122 on Feb 21, 2010 8:51 PM EST up reply actions

Not saying they shouldn’t. But avg joe who has 3-4 beers with a meal at happy hour, and thinks that he can drive fine even though he technically might not pass the blow test (and is probably right), should get a little leniency. He’s not driving erratically, can’t really afford a cab, and can’t just sleep in the car bc he has work tomorrow. Avg Joe who needs the wall for support and guidance as he stumbles toward an exit and hopes his momentum carries him to his vehicle should be handled harshly, as should the bartender for not taking his keys, as should anybody who witnessed this guy getting into his car and starting it in that condition.

Millionare athlete, who just dropped a couple grand on champaigne at the club and made it rain for his favorite stripper should get thrown in jail and have the key thrown away for even thinking about driving home.

by Crackback on Feb 21, 2010 9:49 PM EST up reply actions

justice is supposedly blind so it shouldnt matter who you are or how much you’re worth (not always the case). and like the commercials say, “buzzed driving is drunk driving.”
im not disagreeing with you in terms of harsher punishments, i would just say it should be for all since avg joe drunk driving and killing someone vs super rich guy doing the same makes no difference. if you cant afford to call a cab, have a DD or just dont go out to drink. a night of drinking runs pretty expensive on its own

im guessing he’ll get off relatively easy for this. hopefully i’m wrong

by random122 on Feb 21, 2010 10:06 PM EST up reply actions

Im no proponent for drinking and driving. Im just saying im more sympathetic to a guy who’s buzzed a drives home bc cab fare hits him in the pocket harder than super rich guy who can hire a cab for the entire bar and not feel the pressure in the wallet that avg joe feels.

And im sure im not the only guy who had a few glasses of wine with dinner while out with friends and felt flush in the face but otherwise fine, and drove home fine, but wondered all the while if i got pulled over if i would pass a test.

So forgive me if im less sympathetic towards the super-rich guy who has enough dough to create his own reality without leaving his luxurious home who decides to get behind the wheel after a night out on the town.

Yes theres degrees of wrongness. If theres 2 borderline drunk guys who both believe theyre fine but know its a close call, and one is super-rich and the other is middle class. I t hink its more reprehensible for the borderline rich guy to “risk it” than i do for middle-class guy.

Then skip the last beer or two and spend the money on the cab.

Agreed

It boils down to one question. Are you an adult or not? One is legally allowed to drink because he’s supposed to know when to stop, and when you don’t and you endanger others in such a manner you deserve to have your freedom taken away regardless of class or salary.

by Bro Namath on Feb 22, 2010 12:22 AM EST up reply actions

Its much easier when the person in question is obviously drunk. Im talking about the person who had a few drinks and doesnt feel drunk; that in his judgment feels ok to drive.

The rich guy has the means to just take a cab anyway, even though he feels fine. Avg Joe might not have the means. And although he might not technically pass a blow test, he’s feels fine, and is not putting anybody in any real danger by driving.

There have been late nites after work where ive been utterly exhausted from a long stressful day and a poor previous nite’s sleep where ive felt worse about driving home than i have after a few glasses of wine with dinner with friends on a Saturday nite.

So yeah, im sympathetic towards avg joe who gets popped for DUI after a couple beers at Happy Hour, than I am for rich guy who can afford a personal escort to take him wherever he wants to go.

by Crackback on Feb 22, 2010 11:37 AM EST up reply actions

If the average guy doesn’t have the means for a cab ride, how will he ever be able to afford bail, a defense attorney, and fines?

If you can’t afford a cab, how are you out drinking in the first place, surely if your that tight up, you should be doing a bit of saving.

it seems to me that you’re making two separate arguments but combining them. one argument being a few drinks compared to downing the bar and the other being an avg guy over a rich guy. i dont mean to gang up on you, but i think your sympathy is a bit misguided for the second point. i can understand it if you’re referring to a guy who’s just had a few drinks compared to someone who’s downed the bar. i dont necessarily agree with it, but it makes more sense to me than feeling for an avg guy over a rich guy with all else being equal.
in regards to the first argument, there is probably a clear line between being good to being drunk, but the parts inbetween are real shady. the driving limit was put in to place to prevent people from thinking about driving if they’re anywhere in that shady area because everybody has a different level of tolerance. i would probably need a DD after a few beers while someone else could double my intake and be at my same level. the point is that people just generally need to be more conscious and aware of what their actions can lead to. it’s all about responsibility.

by random122 on Feb 22, 2010 2:57 PM EST up reply actions

I guess i didnt make my point clearly. The scenario im proposing is this:
2 guys have a couple drinks at happy hour. Both stop drinking right at their cut-off point. Both feel a little buzzed, but ok to drive. Neither can say with certainty that they will definitely pass a breathalizer.

Avg Joe might feel a bit squeezed about dropping another $40-$50 on a cab, bc he just dropped $40 on happy hour. And he feels like he can drive fine.

Whereas Super-rich guy would feel no such squeeze. Super-rich guy should not hesitate to take the cab.

I have no sympathy for either, if either drives while clearly drunk. However, while i don’t condone “driving while buzzing,” I am more sypathetic towards avg joe if he gets popped for a DUI under the above circumstances. But I have no sympathy for sympathy for super-rich guy.

by Crackback on Feb 22, 2010 3:21 PM EST up reply actions

in those cases, i’m more a proponent of waiting than anything, but i see what you’re saying now.

by random122 on Feb 22, 2010 3:37 PM EST up reply actions

I understand your point, but I just find it tough to have sympathy for anybody who even chances it. People know the risks. They don’t have to drink. I’ve been at work happy hours where I’ve just had soda because I had to drive. Other times I’ve bitten the bullet and just walked to my home. There’s always a way to avoid drinking and driving.

People are complaining multiple CB's arrested for seperate DUI's

and that is happens every offseason etc etc etc.

This is a national issue that extends far beyond (and encompasses) football.
