Jets Lose Out on CFL Sacks Leader
CFL sacks leader Ricky Foley signed with the Seahawks.
BC Lions defensive end Ricky Foley, who is scheduled to become a CFL free agent on February 15, has agreed to terms with the Seattle Seahawks of the NFL.
The 6'2, 245-pound native of Courtice, Ontario led the CFL in sacks last season with 12, also recording 51 defensive tackles for the Lions.
Foley, who was a standout on York University's football team, was selected fourth overall by the Lions in the first round of the 2006 CFL Draft.
The Jets gave him a workout last week. That's a tough break. The Jets are limited in the offseason moves they can make. This was a chance to add a low risk player at a low price. He might have been able to beef up the pass rush.

trade vernon gholston, lito sheppard, and your first rd pick to san diego for cromartie, merriman, and sd’s first round pick, or a combination of those…sd has many valuable pieces that will becoming rfa, ufa, and they cant sign all to an offer sheet, one or more peices like merriman, cromartie, vincent jackson are bound to become available. i think they keep vj to keep rivers happy, but having cromartie on the jets and signing him to a long year deal gives us the best two corners in the league.

CFL players
I know the CFL plays differently (3 downs and something called “singles” are allowed, whatever they are), but I have a lot less of a feeling of loss seeing that this guy is a product of Canadian football all the way. I would feel more positive towards his prospects in the NFL if he had gone to a university in the US and therefore played something that resembles the NFL more.
There haven’t been a lot of former CFL players that have made an impact in the NFL – as a move, taking someone from the CFL is like calling up someone from double-A in baseball to the major leagues: no chance if he wasn’t tearing it up there, and even so, it’s rather hit-or-miss.
Let's not lose out on this guy!
