Honestly didn’t see that. Just got the PR from the league and sprinted to post it. Great minds think alike.

Win and we're in?

Not quite, but I looked at the towel from the end of the season Bengals game last season (if you were there, you remember the towel) and am reminded that while it’s fine to look at the combinations that exist this week for the Jets playoff drive, we only control one outcome.

So let’s fry the fish and let the other games run their course. If we take care of business, the rest will fall into place.

I remember the towel!

Darrelle Revis once won a game of Connect Four in three moves.

Last Year...

Things fell into place absurdly easily – thanks mostly to Broncos, Phins, and Steelers all stinking it up down the stretch.
We will need to make our own luck instead of banking on other teams making our lives easier for us.

Except...

This year we ARE in control and in very good control. Things merely get easier for us if other teams lose. Really, we’ve already made most of our own luck.

PLAYOFFS? PLAYOFFS!?

This is what the Jets need to do. They need to get a substance abuse free pass from the league, then get on a plane to Joshua Tree State Park. Once there, have everyone on the team eat some shrooms. They will all go on their own self finding journeys into their souls. At the end of it all, this entire team will have found enough motivation to finish the season strong, and motivated.

Get busy winning or get busy losing.

I don’t think shrooms would even show up on a drug test…

This must be a false report

The Jets are still in the playoff picture? How the hell did they back into that—-lucky team, they must be playing some crappy teams in order to be in this position.

I dont want to back into the playoffs

I want to finish off strong like last year

by JetKing55 on Dec 8, 2010 4:09 PM EST reply actions

want to set something straight

The Jets and the Pats have had the same exact schedule except for two different teams each. The pats had the Chargers and the Colts and the Jets had the Broncos and the Texans. Lot of people talk about the Jets only have one won against winning teams, but the pats only have three wins against winning teams. The Chargers and Colts proved last week they are flawed teams. I like the Jets chances of making a serious run again.

I kind of like this

One of the comments suggested framing it, but I think we need to move on rather than constantly being reminded of it. We stunk up Foxborough, but we need to learn from it and head forward strong. Monday night shouldn’t be an anchor

I'm tired of this.

Rex doesn’t need to shut up. Rex needs to be Rex. Having a big mouth is what he does. We need to make some adjustments, sure. But shut up? No. Our mouths aren’t costing us games.

by cult hero on Dec 8, 2010 5:55 PM EST up reply actions

ehhh

his mouth puts a bullseye on us…..teams are more motivated to kick our butts

And the Jets are more motivated to kick other teams’ butts. It evens out.

by revis_island on Dec 8, 2010 8:31 PM EST up reply actions

Wow.

Didn’t know we were that close. I feel if we win out we will have a solid chance at home field. But lets just take care of our business first.

by Jerrad p on Dec 8, 2010 5:47 PM EST reply actions

i agree

I’m not conceding the division yet. We’re only one game back. If peppers decides to dominate and cutler is going deep, the pats could easily drop one.

We took a step back, but we aren’t going away.

by Crackback on Dec 8, 2010 6:14 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

to beat out the Pats

they would need to lose to either the Bills on the road or the sushi at home. A loss against the Pack or Bears (all this with the asumption we win out) would still give the division to the Pats.

Not saying it isn’t possible, but tose games are the ones we really need help with.

Anything’s possible. Either way, it’ll be nice to finally have double digit wins after 25 years.

Not Quite 25 years!!!

We went 12-4 in 1998, that was only 12 years ago. I know as a loyal Jet fan for close to 35 years, it feels like 25 years since our last double digit win season, but give Vinny, Wayne, urtis and Key some credit!!!

In this scenario

The SD loss is key because Jacksonville and Indianapolis play each other next weekend, so one of them HAVE to have a loss or tie before the season is over. As cult hero indicated, they are in control of their destiny as far as making the playoffs. 2 wins in their last 4 and it doesn’t matter what anybody else does.
