Ryan likes to remind people that no defense he has coached ever has finished ranked worse than No. 6 in the NFL.

Earlier in the season, when the defense was struggling, Ryan boldly boasted that by the time everything shook out the numbers would follow suit with his history.

At the moment, those numbers are following suit. The Jets defense is ranked No. 4 overall in the NFL.

The Jets are ranked 8th in DVOA (11th pass, 2nd run).
Nice take on the emphasis on D, and the difference from last year.

“I think when people compare our defense, the first thing they want to do is compare it to last year’s defense. Compare it to the rest of the league [this year]. Where is the rest of the league at? Last year, the defense was exceptional, and I don’t think people realize how exceptional that defense was.”

Winners deserve more money.

Especially when dealing with rookie contracts. That is a lot of money to gamble on.

Why?

What’s wrong with performance bonuses? At the office I work at people who do exceptionally get bonuses.

Bad analogy, I'm talking about athletes, not real life situations

I feel the money can cloud some athletes judgement, putting more pressure on them to succeed.

couple of guys to watch in the bowl games today that could be a good fit here...

Kenny Tate — Safety, Maryland; 6-4 220 big hitting playmaker.

Mikel LeShoure — RB, Illinois; 6-0 230, can bruise but also has good feet and can make moves. More of a 1-cut back which are good for zone blocking schemes IMO.
