Congratulations to Rex Ryan and the New York Jets
I think it's important that we all take a step back and appreciate the accomplishment the Jets attained today in making the Playoffs. That makes coach Rex Ryan two for two. Not a lot of coaches have that kind of success.
The Jets have been bashed all over the spectrum by fans and pundits all year. They bring a lot of it on themselves through their self-promotion, but this had a lot of people hoping and expecting a fall. It didn't come. The Jets are back in the big dance.
I know this team put sky high expectations on the season and that issues exist, but I think it's important to appreciate that unlike fans of almost two-thirds of the teams in the league, we don't have to stop rooting for our taem after next Sunday. We get extra football.
Take a moment to appreciate that and remember all of the years that ended so bitterly after sixteen games where we would have given anything for more football.

if we win next week
we’ll have
20 Regular Season Wins
2 Playoff Appearances (hardest division in AFC)
at least 2 Playoff Wins.
Pretty successful start for the “Sanchez & Ryan Era”
JETS / falcons...METS / rays...NETS / lakers
My word is my pride, the wisdom is weak, and that's word from the wise.

Perspective
Yes, it all seems better when you can step back and actually recognize how far this team has come with a young QB and realtively novice coach.
Great ride last year and possibly more this year. At the very least we get one extra game, one extra weekend of hope.
What would be sweeter than knocking off KC and then shocking the world against NE? A dream perhaps – but one you can’t even dream you are not even at the dance. Just ask any Giant fan who is calling for Coughlin’s head and wondering if Manning has regressed for good.
Thank God for the Giants – helped deflect the focus from our most recent off field debacle (if only for a bit) by collapsing in historic fashion last week. And this week the focus will all be on their lousy showing today.
Good to be in--BUT!
Take away the BS, and this is a great achievement for an inexperienced coach and quarterback. This should have been he goal from the beginning—not the Super Bowl! The fake punt yesterday was possibly the dumbest call in Jets history. The fact Rex defended the call instead of playing a field position game is a bad omen for the playoffs. Sadly, we don’t need any omens with a defense as bad as ours. Only incredible luck will advance in the playoffs. Go Jets!
Eh...
I’m happy, don’t get me wrong at all. But it would of been a bigger story had we NOT made it this year. All the offseason moves, talk and hype. I think to the fans the playoffs were an expected given this season.
No complaints, But
Ryan has made his point, and established his imprint. But he has a lot of improving to do. Tighter game management. Having ten men on the field in a critical defensive series? Again? Clock management. The weird risks, like the 4th down attempt. The stubborn insistence on blitzing on every 3rd down when it’s clearly not working, and the not-very-good zone play when they don’t. The odd loss of the defensive mojo. The inconsistency of offensive play calling, etc. RR and MT have assembled an impressive cast, but still far from turning it into a machine. RR in some ways is at the same stage of head coaching as Sanchez is at QB. Sanchez looks like he’s learning fast, and is clearly trying. Maybe RR can think in the same mode.
at first, i found rex refreshing
But now his act (yes, act) is getting tired, and I’m starting to think we’ll never win the big one with him. We haven’t had a complete effort all season. We started flat yet again yesterday. The team is fragmented, with the offense and the defense held to different standards. He’s too emotional. We suck at in-game adjustments. And we’re undisciplined way too often (dumb penalties at inopportune times, dropped passes epidemic, wrong amount of players on the field at least once a game, etc).

A special congrats
to Mark Sanchez for becoming the second youngest QB to have a 3000 yard season.
