Mark Sanchez Termed "Game Time Decision" Sunday

Rex Ryan downgraded Mark Sanchez's injury status yesterday:

"I think I underestimated where he was with that injury," Ryan said. "This one could be more of a game-time type decision than I thought it would be."

This is clearly not news you would like to hear. My strong inclination is that Sanchez will still be a go Sunday. He's a tough guy, and the Jets really have nowhere else to turn. The backup quarterback situation is very bad. The more serious the injury, the more it could affect his play for the worse, though.

yes but how about if he gets hit and the injury gets worse knocking him out for 3-4 weeks?

agreed, I’m worried about that too, but I’m not sure this is a team that can win without Sanchez under Center. It’s a different Sanchez then last season, a different run game, and we aren’t facing an awful Buccaneers team this time.

let's hope we blow them out 34-0 at half and get sanchez out of the game

then sit him against the bills.

It's Clemens time!

I’s say it’s Brunnel time but he’s so old, I’m not so sure he’d last out there as you know the Bears will force passing situations and get pressure. He may be one hit away from a nursing home.

I’d rather see one of those two out there for this game then see Sanchez blow his shoulder out.

Ugh...the thought of Brunnel scares the hell out of me

He looked TERRIBLE in the pre-season. He makes Chad Pennington’s arm look like John Elway’s. I’d rather see Clemens if we had to go with a backup option, but that doesn’t exactly inspire me either. Let’s hope Sanchez can go and that he remains relatively healthy.

+1

I’m with you, kotite. I live in No VA area and saw Brunnel with the Skins and he’s tanked. He has no arm and his mobility is gone (at 40, that’s a given). I’m no fan of Clemens, but he can work within the system better for a game and is less likely to be a clay pidgeon as QB.

One shot by Peppers could sideline Sanchez for the next month. Let’s get a game plan tailored for Clemens and give Chicago a game and should we lose make sure we beat the Bills at home. No game should be conceded, but at this stage our goal is the playoffs and what circumstances give us the best chance of getting there,

I like the 34-0 score from YoungMoney24, though. I’ll have what he’s drinking.

Clemens has no greater critic than me now or in the past

but he’s clearly the better suited QB if the worst happens and we have to rely on a backup passer.

I think the Jets are sealed into the playoffs.

If you play Sanchez vs. the Bears and he takes hit from one of the better defenses in the NFL we might see him out for some of the playoffs. Which some would turn to all if its Clemens vs. any of those possible Wild Card teams.

Then the Jets take on Buffalo. 11-5 Wild Card team because the Patriots aren’t going to lose both of their final two games.

The Jets should do their best to win the next 2, if Pittsburgh loses one, and they probably will seeing as they dont have Troy still…and maybe Baltimore loses one, we could get a 1st round bye if we win out…even if we tie with the Steelers, we have the head to head tie breaker….that would be great to get the team health up. Then again, Im not confident in the Offensive staff when they have a bye…and if this Sanchez injury is for real and not just a way to get everyone off of the Foot thing…then Id be worried about Sanchez really getting hurt..considering he is goin up against a very good Bears D. Make no mistake, I mean I dont see us losing this game, but the Bears D is playin lights out right now.

time to run

We ran on the Steelers, more than anyone else this year. No reason we can’t run on these guys. Keep them honest and Sanchez SHOULD be able to muster some short passes. Did the Steelers game do anything to stop the “can’t play in cold weather” crap?
