Jets Show They Can Hang With the Big Boys
It was another heart stopping finish. It was another tight victory. I don't think anybody will say the Jets are a lucky team today, though. Gang Green went on the road and went toe to toe with one of the top five teams in the league. The Jets came out on top.
It was a win to right the ship and turn around a season that appeared to be heading into freefall.
And plenty of props to the beleaguered Brian Schottenheimer for calling a fantastic game.
The official recap will be up in a bit. Celebrate below.

4+ missed pass interference calls.
2 in the first drive, 2 in the last. The reffs won, so don’t kid yourself.

As long as we win out we'll have the #2 seed.
So no, I’m cool.

Steelers fans have been classy this whole week....
until umadbro. You’re the Harrison of the Steeler’s bloggers.
And judging by your comments, it’s your ass that’s sore.
You got some breaks too. It seemed like the Steelers only had to go nine yards to get a first down on two different occasions, and that next to last play was the longest seven seconds of my life.

Please. How many first downs did the refs give you on your first td drive? Don’t be sore. Come playoff time Polamalu will be back and you guys won’t be a joke.
There is really nothing funnier than hearing a steeler fan complain about refs.

I disagree.
It’s pretty funny watching the Patriots rape the Jets 45-3. How does your ass feel, bitch?
Also, we’ll still get the #2 seed. Hahahaha!

The Jets also have the confidence they can beat the Pats
Your whole city don’t want to see the Pats
Didn't know you were a Pats fan
Guess your’re just another front runner. Cause if you’re a Steelers fan, you just lost to the Jets.

how about that win the refs handed the steelers against the Dolphins?? WORST CALL EVER!!!!

I don’t know about that either. With Polamalu out you guys may not win the next two weeks and give your division to the Ravens.

We won.

you bought into the media hype that the steelers were gonna blow the jets away and now you are in disbelief
by chrebetsthebet on Dec 19, 2010 7:24 PM EST up reply actions
yea, because the Steelers don’t get almost every single possible call in their favor.
WaaWaaWaa, we got 4 calls that didn’t go our way for once.
I hate the steelers

Hey champ...
you lost. You can blame it on the refs all you want. Should we look at the holding calls that weren’t called when Mendenhal was running outside? Or when Rapistburger was scrambling? Or the no call on the PI against Holmes?
See you in the playoffs.

The Steelers haven't won any games this year as a result of the refs, right?
Oh wait! I remember, week 7 against the dolphins!

He did get away with one
It happens all the time on both sides of the ball. That’s the way it goes. Umadbro is just a classless fan. Bottom line is I’ll be celebrating tonight and he’ll still be in a bad mood! :D

Woot! Great win!
Don’t give Schotty too much credit, he still had a few head scratchers :P
One. The clock mismanagement at the end of the first half was the only bad thing. I guess you could also question the couple of tigercat appearances but aside from that, the playcalling was as good as he’s ever been.
by SioneBAAOOOHA on Dec 19, 2010 7:25 PM EST up reply actions
Let’s not forget the passes on our last plays of the game instead of trying to run out more of the clock.
Those are defensible. If they had converted the throw the Steelers never get the ball back, and it wasn’t like it was a crazy pass play. It was pretty high percentage.
by SioneBAAOOOHA on Dec 19, 2010 7:45 PM EST up reply actions
Clock management by the players too
Too many guys ran out of bounds and kept a lot of time on the clock for Pittsburg.
by OldJetsFanatic on Dec 19, 2010 7:37 PM EST up reply actions
Yeah, that was a bit rocky. But when you call plays or plays end up on the sidelines, sometimes it’s difficult to stay in.

and i believe umadbro predicted 27-7 steelers
metsjetsknicksrangers.............can it get any worse?
really?
I was expecting a 3 point game either way but then I didn’t expect a draw from our endzone.

U know it was ugly, but this is the best game all season
Far from perfect, but, the offense kept the steelers guessing all day. The Jets ran on second down no matter what the down. I been wanting this all season. I love runs all second and ten. It most of the times catch the defense off guard, especially when you are in a passing set. Forget the big play, keep it simple and run that clock out. The last offensive drive was stupid though
Called it
I knew we were due a win, and this is a completely different Steelers defense without Pomalalu.

Another HUGE play to seel a victory. His stats on the year won’t show it, but the guy closes out game after game.

+1
And another thankless job often often overlooked with LT is his blocking to protect the QB. That was huge!
O-Line only gave up a sack

Are there really any ugly W's?
And there are positives here. No turnovers, and the first offensive TD in 3 games.
Are the Eagles returning their W to the Giants today?
So Steelers fans remember Jamie Kennedy in Malibu’s Most Wanted.
Don’t be hatin’!
Nice mistake free game by our QB. Hopefully this puts the bad weather thing to rest.

Coleman had 2 sacks
And 10 Tackles (9 solo).
You don’t want a 5’9" DB leading your team in tackles, but good job.
The defense still concerns me with the open receivers across the middle on that last drive
especially on that 3rd and 24.
not the Jets defense I am used to seeing…
but I will take the WIN!!!
We neeeeed to get more of a pass rush
the reason were getting beat in the secondary is that guys are getting to much time to move around hard to cover guys for 10 seconds plus every time.
he better be careful
or the ben action figure might do things to his backside that he would not want anyone to know of.

Give Schotty cred
I think he called a GREAT game, under pressure, at Pitt, with his job definitely on the line. the way we held the ball well, complete with some very ballsy, smart key plays. The Sanchez TD and the LT direct snap were beauts.
well done guys . have that lovely warm feeling again
well done bs on the game he called , dare i say it , it was near perfection for the team we faced and the conditions.
congrats to 17 for a great display .he really took the d to school today
sanchez was back to near his best but still more to come
defence was a let down for most of the game but came up big when needed
and last but not least brad the man and all the st’s this game was as good as it gets
the fakes were great
best fakes since watchin pam anderson running on the beach.

Chicago should get the same game plan.
This was the big one, a nice AFC conference win is far more important than a win over the slightly-lesser-than-Pitt Bears. But if we can play this game plan next week, we’ll be looking at a win and some serious confidence for the playoffs.
They seemed ok-

Fantastic
I’ll admit I was heading into “Same Old Jets” mode the past couple of weeks. Glad the boys had more faith than me.
And although I don’t hate the Giants, I guess it’s worth having a laugh that they had Meadowlands Nightmare II while we pulled off such an emotional win.
When I was a kid, I would cover a blue futon with a white blanket, prop it up with a fan set on high, and pretend it was the Metrodome. That should tell you a lot.
