Thursday's Notes From Florham Park: Practice and Pressers
A lot of random tidbits coming out of Florham Park today as the Jets try to get in as much last-minute preparation as possible before they travel to Pittsburgh.
Unfortunately, I wasn't present at the facility. Lucky for us, NYDN's Manish Mehta was, and he provided some news bits via Twitter I wanted to pass on to you all.
My Take:
- Miscommunication in the secondary will continue to be a big issue. I have a problem with Brodney Pool calling the plays in the secondary. He may be a veteran, but he has less than one year in DC Mike Pettine's system. At the same time, there are no better candidates with Eric Smith ailing, as the young Dwight Lowery has not shown the ability to make good reads, and he's also making the switch from CB. Let's not pile everything on his plate.
- We miss Jim Leonhard. A lot.

Just rest, he'll play, and be covering Mike Wallace
They call me Joe Benigno --- Mike Florio, even.

Doesn’t matter. Clearly his hamstring is still tight, which means it can still go anytime with the wrong kind of burst on a cold day. Not a positive.
Definitely agree here
Look what happened against Randy Moss. Anything like that can tweak it, esp in cold weather when muscles are tight as you mentioned

apparently it’s his right hammy this time as opposed to the left hammy earlier in the yr. revis apparently also refused to say when exactly he hurt it
metsjetsknicksrangers.............can it get any worse?
WOW, they really swept this under the rug
Thanks for that tidbit, gonna look out for some news on this tomorrow.

very often the opposite leg is injured in compensation. Still a problem, of course. Now he actually has two hamstring muscles that have been taxed and may be prone to injury.
is the revis hammy the same issue?
Or is it a new injury?

I would assume it's the same one. Hamstring injuries are usually nagging and linger

Haven't heard anything to the contrary, so I believe it's safe to say it's the same one.

Big problems with slow below average safeties along with slow linebackers
in pass coverage.Even Rex must be getting a bad feeling concerning controlling the
middle of the field on defense and the inability of the offense to score points.
Right or left, we're hurtin'
Right now the Jets secondary is struggling. Poole has been a disappointment, which is more apparent with the injury to Leonhard. And at this stage, our alternatives are pretty anemic. In the Rex system, the corners are leaned on, and we are fortunate to have some of the best. But if Revis tweeks his hamstring again and has to sti out, it can go from bad to worse.
