Strength and Conditioning Coach Tripped Miami Dolphins Player

The Jets have given word that strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi was the man on the sidelines who tripped Dolphin Nolan Carroll on a punt in the third quarter.

Coach Rex Ryan had just been briefed on the incident after the game and didn’t want to comment on "what ifs." A team spokesman said, "The team is reviewing the situation and is looking into the appropriate next step."

If the team review finds this was intentional, Alosi should be fired immediately. There is no room for something that bush league on this team. The Jets may or may not go far in the Playoffs to back up their talk this year, but they should send a message that they have standards and won't tolerate behavior this embarrassing to the organization.

While I think it was despicable and shouldnt go unpunished..

…wasnt the guy out of bounds? And I dont think he did it purposely either, only because what if the player got up and came after him? Can a guy be that fearless and stupid at the same time?

Should you choose to test my resolve in this matter, you will be facing a finality beyond your comprehension, and you will not be counting days, or months, or years, but milleniums in a place with no doors.

it was clear in slow motion

the dude casually lifted his knee in the direction of the player as he passed . intent was obvious.
hopefully he gets fined and not fired.

Oh you dont?

Trust me the league will. With the league stressing plauer safety trying to get a 18 game season that type of non sense will not be tolerated. When a COACH on the sidelines intentionaly tries to hurt a player it is a big deal. Not someone who was on the field and caught up in the moment, this was a premeditated act to seriously injury a player. As for your point of him being out of bounds on punys gunners are usually always ran out of bounds and fight to get back in. However your coach tool it into his own hands to try and give your guy an advantage and ended up hurting a player and hopefully costing himselve a job. Kudos to John for being a stand up man and saying those type of plays cannot and should not be tolerated in this league. Good game Jets and good luck with the rest of your season.

I think a coach doing that is terrible and should be punished

Probably fired but I’m saying on that particular play, the player was out of bounds and it wasn’t a career threatening hit. How many times do players go flying off the field and take these guys down?

I was a big fan of his father and a big fan of his and they both have tempers and get carried away but nothing like this
This was an intentional act by this staffer and I dont believe Rex will put up with this he may be loud and brash but he is not a cheap shot type of coach
I would be surprised if this staffer wasn’t fired by tomorrow

His foot doesn’t move which was what helped me to think he didn’t do anything the first replay. When they slow it down you could clearly see him lean his knee forward to make contact. Can hin, I am glad it was not JL like someone suggested, that would of been a tough situation.

You mean...

The Edwards DUI when the Jets were the first team to actually punish a starting player for a DUI? And the Ines Saenz “Locker room incident” that revolved around guys throwing balls by her so they could get closer to her and check her out? The one that occurred on the practice field, not in the locker room? The one where she said she didn’t know what the big deal was about, and in fact, didn’t even report herself?

None of us want to see this....

The competition should stay on the field of play in any sport (FIFA motto of Fair Play). This type of behavior will be punished in some manner by the Jets beore the league, because the next time it could be a Jet or any other player for that manner, You’re setting the tone rather than making an example that this won’t be tolerated. You often see the opposing bench stop a player from hurting themselves after going out of bounds. Sporting behavior unfortunately can’t always be legislated, but stuff like this has to be dealt with no matter who it is.

As a long time Jets fan, I’ve rarely met a win at any cost Jets fan whi would not be embarrassed by this.

But I still despise the Fins!

I'm glad most of you all realize how serious this is and want him fired

This is an absolute embarrassment to the Jets Organization. Does it suck to lose your job around Xmas? Absolutely. But is it an excuse to say, “Well, you could have ended his career, it was dirty, but we won’t fire you because Xmas is coming up.” Come’ on man! This is the kind of action that gives teams brutal reputations that unfortunately stick, even if it happens only once or twice. As the Pats were busted in Spygate, Belichek was thereon labeled as a cheater. If Ryan doesn’t fire this guy for one of the dirtiest acts a conditioning coach can make, what will he be labeled? The dirtiest coach with a big mouth? I have a ton of respect for Ryan and the Jets Organization, but this is a decision that hinders that level of respect. Like someone else mentioned above, if any of you did something to jeopardize someone else’s career or life and damaged the company’s reptuation, you WILL be fired. No questions asked. It’s automatic termination. This should be no different, especially when these guys are held to a higher standard. So dissapointing something like this happened. I trust Ryan will make the right decision and hold a level of integrity and respect.
