Offense Sputters Once Again in Bitter Loss
It might be officially time to panic. For the fourth time, the Jets are losers in the 2010 season. In all four of the losses, the offense has looked horrific. In three of the four losses, including this one, the defense has played so well that even a mediocre output by the offense would have resulted in victory.
The two most important components of an offense are the guy calling the plays and the guy taking the snaps. Right now the Jets are not getting anything positive from either.
The Jets are sputtering at the worst possible time with a pair of road games on the horizon.
Congratulations to the Dolphins. They played a great game. It's the first contest I've ever seen where the punter was the most valuable player.
The official recap will be up later.
Vent below but keep it reasonably clean.

I think the Jets need to take a page out of the Cowboys playbook and fire Shotty
It starts with the coaches, and will spark a fire under the offense’s ass
Get busy winning or get busy losing.
a SERIOUS question
Does it piss off Jet fans that Rex Ryan talks so much shit and well, to some certain extent is eating crow at this point?

You know what makes a Pats fan?
Look above at Patsfan4life. Or the Eagles fan by Joe D (didn’t see you posting last year while we got into the playoffs and you were beaten three times by the Cowboys BTW).
They seem to have one thing in common.
Good QB’s and….
They’re douches!
No, because he's right to have that level of confidence in this team.
It’s the Offense that has to produce.
I think Rex talks from a defensive perspective and other then last game against the Pats,
they aren’t the problem. I think if he talks trash he should hold people accountable for not being able to back it up. Shotty, receivers dropping balls, Sanchez not playing consistent, Nick Folk…
Would Rex be significantly less successful if he was coach of any other team?
I doubt it.
Rex is not the problem – he will (ONE DAY) be the solution.
The problem is that he gives too much power to people below him. He can’t let both Schotty and Pettine be making the majority of the playcalling.

Troubling
The offense is clearly troubling at this point. Their running game is looking completely average and …… Sanchez is looking very average as well. I know some will point to the TD pass Holmes dropped and say the Jets should have had a tie game going into OT. But …… I think that was offset completely but the numerous times Sanchez threw bad passes that killed drives.
The larger picture, though, is that the Jets are looking very average when playing halfway decent teams. Unless they have a resurgence over the next few weeks, there is no way in hell this is a Super Bowl team. Not even close.
At this point?
It’s been like this for weeks now, but no one seemed to want to believe how bad this team has actually played compared to the competition.
Anybody know what happened with Greene?

OK now it is official…
I hate to say it but i am officially calling it…
NO MORE BS….
Like cmon, the only SB champ in our franchise's history is raising his eye brows, Start to panic?? F that, it's time to make heads roll
Starting with that tripping dude on the sideline THEN SCHOTTY
Yeah, that was some dirty busch league crap on the sidelines.
It would have probably been a penalty if he didn’t do that as it was the same penalty that happened earlier in the game.
Do you guys know who that was?
Was that an inactive player or staff?

Miami fan's take....
Guys, the best team on the field was the weather today…
Your game thread reads exactly as the Dolphins game threads have read for most of the season…..frustration with the offensive coordinator being the main focus, which then of course makes you question the QB.
As evidenced by both QBs and the lack of WRs getting really open on any plays, I think the weather was more of a factor than anyone is giving it…..
Another Miami-Jets game down to the wire…. but historically the Jets/Pats/Phins always split in our division it seems…
You guys are still playoff bound……we’re still chasing.
Honest question: Last year I remember talk about Sanchez seriously struggling in cold weather? Any legs to this based on this years cold weather games, or am I making something out of nothing?

He did struggle early but he played well in some bad weather games late.

Fr8 you hit the nail on the head.
October and November aren’t that cold. December is a different story… But today was 50 degrees! Not that cold at all!
Weather was definitely a factor though....no doubt about it.
I am so happy we have Brandon Fields though. Games like that, he gets an MVP

The guy has got to have a sore leg.
That was a crazy performance there. Your D rose to the occasion as well which I found impressive.
We are excited about our defense.
Despite our record, we still have (I believe) a top 5 defense in the league. Take away some injuries that cost us the Chicago game, and the bad call in the Pittsburgh game, and we would’ve been right in the thick of the division race…… But obviously you have to also be able to overcome those things, and we haven’t done that this year.
Cameron Wake is a beast…. and the defense as a whole is very young and should only get better (first year under Mike Nolan also)…..so We’re excited….we just need to fix or Offensive Line, get some fresh legs at RB, and possibly another QB in 2 years if Henne doesn’t get it together next year.
We’re a lot like you guys, just we’re a bit younger without the proven players.

I think there is something to it. Sanchez has overall played very poorly in bad weather. I also think, quite honestly, that we’re still seeing a lot of inexperience with him. Not just because he’s only a 2nd year QB but also because he didn’t have a broad track record at USC. The Jets PR machine continues to hype him on the one hand but ……. their play calling shows just the opposite: there is very little confidence in Sanchez at the coaching level.
I still hope he proves me wrong
I knew we were wrong to take him at all in ’09, but I PRAY that they prove me wrong…
Am I wrong in thinking Sanchez...
is starting to evolve into another from the line of USC QB’s, another “Matt Leinart”? A College QB that isn’t really able to evolve in the Pro’s even with the minute success from the playoffs last year?

Like Carson Palmer?
John David Booty? you’re right.
I mean, when I got the news about us as a cold weather team drafting a QB from CALIFORNIA I was slightly concerned
But this is extra. He had one of his worst games of his career last week and its starting to show he doesn’t respond well to adversity. When things are good he’s smiling without a care in the world. When things are bad and we need the pillar to lean on HE IS NOT IT. Not yet anyways…or atleast I hope.
I'm Tired. I'm Just so Tired:
Of the underachieving.
Of the lame playcalling by Schotty.
Of Sanchez and his inconsistency.
Of Tom Brady and his immunity to adversity.
Of the Dolphins beating us in our own stadium.
Of Nick Folk and the bad karma he brought us from Dallas.
Of the team’s failure to live up to expectations.
Of Vernon Gholston.
Of Monday Night Football.
And most of all, of friends (that I thought were Jets fans) walking up to me and telling me the Jets are frauds.
I’m tired of it, and now I just wanna go study for my finals – after I watch the Eagles get Vick-tory over the Cowboys.
Good luck on the finals and don't try to be like a Jet on them at this point,
as you won’t be living up to your potential.
Amen
Cause those finals are gonna be a bitch. Better off studying then being sad over this disgusting play.
I had a Cowboys fan sitting next to me
Whispering “overrated” in my ear all game. I would love to see them get crushed tonight.

Our season is collapsing like the Metrodome roof.
That video was some crazy $hit, it reminded me of winter in Buffalo.
Post Game Press Conference
Rex has the doom and gloom talk going. Has the down look on his face now. Said he is finally really worried especially of next week. He’s actually sounding like the rest of the coaches in the league. No “team to beat, we’re all time greats, most talented in history”. Just the way he sounds, I don’t think he believes they’ll beat Pittsburgh. He’s taking the look of the QB: showing fear….This is going to be a LONG LONG week.
It really is hard not to be negative when the last 60 minute football game was against the Bills. It is so hard to watch these games its just draining…Bright side….the D looked real good again so its not both sides of the ball that are in disarray
In an Ideal world I would have all ten fingers on my left hand so my right hand could just be a fist for punching.
Remember when Sanchez was asked...
who his girlfriend is? His answer: My girlfriend is the NY Jets…hmm. He might need a real woman girlfriend and get laid. He’s seems to be really screwing his “girlfriend” out on the field out there now. His head is so messed up. I can’t imagine what it will be like out there at Heinz Field.

easy
Its easy to blame BS and rightfully so, but lets look at sanchez as well. here is the break down.
accurate = yes he is
strong arm = yes he has that too
potential = yes
able to avoid being sacked = he can escape most of the time
field vision = NO
decission making = NO
experience = no
I agree we need to get rid of BS and the sooner the better, but it may be a good idea to look at veteran QB perhaps one in his 5 or 6 year that can not only push sanchez but take over…it is not unreasonable to re do sanchez’s contract to make room to bring in a “young” proven starter..
AND MOST IMPORTANT FIRE BS…fortunatly there are enough HC positions open that he can leave on good terms
I'd say good game
But we all know that was an ugly ass game.
