Sprint Game Ball: David Harris
This post is sponsored by Sprint.
After such an ugly loss, it might seem difficult to single anybody out for excellent play, but it really is not. It's time to recognize Mr. Underappreciated on this defense, David Harris. While Darrelle Revis, Nick Mangold, and D'Brickashaw Ferguson are correctly identified as elite homegrown talent, Harris flies under the radar. It's not really a persona thing because only Revis of the first three is a big self-promoter.
The inside linebacker's abilities stopping the run in traffic and blitzing were again on full display Sunday against the Packers where he led the Jets with 9 tackles and 1 sack. He was one of the biggest reasons Gang Green shut down Green Bay's run game and stayed in a contest in which the offense was shut out.
Not only for his work Sunday, but also for quietly playing like an elite inside linebacker for years, David Harris gets my Sprint Game Ball.

Game ball to Ferguson
Harris did play a pretty solid game, but I’d have to give it to the Brick. He was a solid contributor throughout, and was a pretty easy pick given that most of team underperformed. Not much competition this week unfortunately.

True story:
I once lost a game in semi-pro just like this one. The game had the same end result and read just like the story of this one. 2 great defenses. Both offenses kept out of the endzone. It seemed like every time we got close to scoring, the ball was taken away from us in a heartbreaking fashion.
At the end of the game the defensive coach lobbied for his defense to get the next practice off because they did their job perfectly and the offense layed an egg and let the team down. Our Head coach shot him down the second he said that and later fired him for that exact same reason. He said " We win as a team. And we loose as a team. Everyone has a hand in a lose".
That coach also made it a point to pick me as player of the game for how hard I worked on the O-line in a loosing effort. He could have easily picked any one of the guys on defense who had a better game then I did. But he chose me because I did my best to keep the offense focused. I wasn’t the best contributer or the most skilled at any point when I was on that team. Far from it in fact. But the presidence our coach set that night by rewarding an offensive player for never giving up created a wave of confidence that we rode to the superbowl. I’ll never forget that.
If I were Rex, I would do the exact same thing that my coach did that night. He could pick any one of the defensive players as POTG and have a great case for it. But I would choose a guy like Brick or mabye Woddy who kept their heads down, stayed focused and fought to the end.
I agree with John from a fans standpoint. Harris had the best game by far. Bart as well. Especially in the first half.
See ya GGN! Im out.

I lost a game where we up one 7 to 6 and was punting with 30 seconds left from out of the end zone.
The punter fumble the snap and we lost 8 to 7. I agree with you though, you win and lose as a team. I believe big wood ( Damien Woody) played great too. That move he got beat on was an incredible fast move and I would like for some to suggest one tackle who would had stopped that move.
Lions game plan .
Play physical, no turnovers, good special teams and let Shotty screw up. We will beat there heartless ME,ME,ME offense by just watching them shoot themselves in the foot.
LIGHTS OUT !
Sounds like a pretty good plan tbh.
Thing is (and this has to be the reason why he’s had a job for so long) Schotty seems to pull out his best gameplans after losses like this. So good luck!
The Lions are unfortunate to have to play us after a loss like that.
Gotta feelin that theres gonna be some hittin on Sunday.
Have you been asleep for the last year?

Revis does not talk himself up at all. When have you EVER heard Revis talk himself up??? Ever? The worst thing he did was call Moss a slouch. Even during the holdout, you hardly heard a peep out of him and when he did speak he talked about broken promises.
Revis has NOT talked himself up.
But crack...
He said he was the best corner and wanted to be paid as such.

No, I don’t agree with that. He said that THEY said he was the best, and that they should put their money where their mouth is. I don’t think we ever heard Revis say that he is the best and pound his chest. He’s a very soft-spoken, low-key guy.
He says hes the best on his twitter account bio.

This is a huge trap game for us. Stafford to Johnson is probably going to be the most dangerous combo in the league in years to come, their screen game is solid and something we’ve got to watch closely, and that defense has very slowly been coming into its own. I expect this to be one of out toughest games of the year.
Of course I do hope I’m wrong and we blow them out.
Ha!
With the way our offense played this week, I’d say this is a trap game for the Lions! At least Shotty won’t have two weeks to plan. A week is almost too much.
Defense coming into its own??? They gave up 24+ five times. They gave up 25 and 28 in their last 2 games.
They’ve got a nice mix of hungry young players and solid veterans. Their D isn’t good yet, (which is why I said ‘very slowly’) but if you’ve watched them at all you see several young guys on the verge of really getting the pro game.

Agree Sione
After this week’s performance (not) Detroit scares me. They have been playing well of late and only barely been beaten. Jets had best come prepared for this one.
Joint possession....
Joint possession…. I was certain the NFL rule states that if the receiver and the defender come to the ground, both possessing the ball, that the ruling will be in favor of the receiver as a completed pass.
So how in the heck did the officials twice rule interceptions against the Jets receivers in Sunday’s game against the Packers? They clearly had possession on the ground to complete the pass play.
Can someone explain it to me?
