Three Reasons The Jets Will Be Successful Against The Texans
With the Jets vs Texans approaching on Sunday, lets take a look at a few factors that the Jets should be able to exploit and leave week 11 with an 8-2 record. Let's get started.
3. Matt Schaub- The Texans QB spent the night in the hospital on Tuesday for a bursa sac injury. Shaub will apparently start against the Jets barring anything unforeseen. However, this isn't exactly the defense you want to play against when you're nursing a pretty serious injury. It's tough to game plan when you spend half the week in the hospital, so look for the Jets to take advantage of an usually ill prepared Shaub.
2. Andre Johnson vs Revis Island- Last year in week 1, Darrelle Revis began his All-Pro campaign with an incredible performance holding Andre Johnson to 4 catches for a slim 35 yards. This year, Revis has not matched last years performance due to his hamstring injury but as he has returned to health, so has his play. Johnson is hobbled by a bad ankle that could effect his play against Revis. Look for the Jets to stick Revis + help on Johnson all day, to shut him down. A beat up Johnson and a beat up Shaub can spell good news for the Jets.
1. TEXANS DEFENSE- The Texans defense is about as piss poor as it gets. While they do have bonafide stars in Mario Williams and Brian Cushing, Demeco Ryans has been lost for the season and the secondary is disgraceful. They are currently ranked 31st in the NFL in defense, allowing 409 yards per game and 28.6 points per game. I see Mark Sanchez having the best game of his career against this defense. If you remember, Sanchez had quite a first game last season against the Texans, and the defense has actually regressed since that point while Mark has improved. If the Jets can establish the ground game early and open up play action, this could be a high scoring affair.

I think your right on. Besides Johnson, there only other weapon on offense is Foster. The Jets rushing defense should be able to hold him in check. I think we are over exaggerating Schaub’s injury. He knows his offense and they are familiar with this Jet’s defense from last year. I don’t think the D will be able to get to Schaub like they did last year, which will make this a closer game than we all think.
However...
I am somewhat concerned about Foster’s ability to hurt us on screen passes. The Jets also have a tendency to make every teams’ 3rd receiver and tightends look much better than they are. The Texans offense can be explosive.

Exploiting an underperforming D
Houston’s defense has been one of the worst all year and is begging to be exploited, but I sure hope Shotty has an offensive game plan that does just that. I think we’ve seen a couple games where the game scheme didn’t seem to match the opponent, with predictible results. Time for a release of the Kraken, crack.
And chrebet is right. Let’s not underestimate Schaub either. While our defense is a lot better, remember the lead the Redskins had against Houston in the 4th quarter? Schaub took them into OT and won, with well over 500 yards of offense.
I just worry about Jones having a big day over the middle as the 3rd receiver (see Lions game)…

Yeah and as Cleveland showed Pool, Leonherd, and Smith cannot cover any WR’s or TE’s

How's it goin' guys.
Texans fan here.
Can’t wait to see AJ go up against Revis. I think Andre will have a mediocre game though. It’s going to be a combination of good coverage from DR and Schaub never looking for AJ. Over the past few games, Schaub hasn’t looked for Andre until the second half(why we suck in every first half). I have no idea why, but he just doesn’t. He’s been throwing it a lot to our #2 WR, Kevin Walter, who is playing well, but he’s no Andre Johnson.
Besides DR vs AJ, I think Santonio Holmes will go over 200 receiving yards this Sunday. I’ve watched him a lot, and he does quite a bit of double moves, and is just a good deep ball WR. Our corners are prone to biting on every double move. Our scheme doesn’t help either. It’s a cover 2 that really isn’t a cover 2. It’s like swiss cheese. Our DC is somehow still employed, and frankly, he doesn’t understand football. He blitzes when he’s not supposed to, and he rushes 4 when he should not.
From what I’ve been reading, Pool and the other SS’s aren’t fairing too well in coverage. Owen Daniels isn’t going to play, but our back up TEs are solid. Joel Dreesen and James Casey are each solid route runners, but they sometimes just look lost on running plays.
The key for you guys is Mark Sanchez. If he doesn’t play well, then I will not buy into him being a solid QB. Our secondary is historically and comically terrible. It could go down as one of the top 5 worst secondaries of all time. It’s more of our DC’s fault, rather than our players’. Sanchez shouldn’t have any trouble going over 300 yards passing.
Game prediction:
NYJ- 31
HOU- 17
I’ll be rooting for you guys, because if we lose, it will help our head coach Gary Kubiak get fired sooner.
By the way, run a lot of delayed plays and draws. Our D over pursues big time. No thanks to our DC telling them to do that.

You may be right...I may be crazy...
One problem the Jets have is getting out fast on below average teams (except Buffalo).
I understand that the Texans offense is incredible, believe me I know because I have Schaub, Foster and AJ on my fantasy team. However, like the guys said above, Marky Mark SHOULD have no trouble throwing for over 300 yds. For some reason though we have recently let those teams hang around way too long.
The Jets play Cincy on Thanksgiving, and then go to New England (game will decide our season). They need to make sure they don’t look ahead and focus on stopping this top 5 offense.
I’ll be benching Schaub and Foster, that’s for darn certain.
Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose
not impressive at home so far
we need to step it up this week . this game is not an easy W for us . i think after facing hillis last week we should be more prepared for foster but the texans are a decent team and if we let them hang around till the 4th quarter they are more capable than the loins and browns of pulling out a win . we’re looking a lot more banged up with niggling injuries so the soner we put them away the better.
