Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie on Special Teams: Bad Idea or Worst Idea Ever?

Photo

Rex Ryan annouced that Dwight Lowery is out Sunday with a concussion. Dennis Waszak indicates one of the starting corners could take his spot on a coverage unit.

Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie on the punt return unit to help offset his absence.

I don't know where he is getting his information. It's not clear whether he's just speculating or whether he's getting this from the team. Rex didn't say anything indicating this at his press conference. Can we all just agree this is a horrible idea, though? Nothing these two do is remotely as valuable as covering receivers. There would be no reason to risk getting them hurt doing something else. The team can sign a guy off the street to do that. There are unemployed guys who could do a good job.

Cromartie wouldn't work anyway considering his tackling issues. Risking Revis out there might even be a less attractive option since he's a better cover guy than Cromartie.

Might as well throw Sanchez out there on special teams too

This is quite a dumb idea. Put Kellen Clemens out there Im sure someone else can wave a towel for a few minutes.

Should you choose to test my resolve in this matter, you will be facing a finality beyond your comprehension, and you will not be counting days, or months, or years, but milleniums in a place with no doors.

Brunnel is a scrambler, and he can still tutor Sanchez with a cast on his leg.

Okay, then Brunell on Special Teams will work

Too bad Feely is playing in Arizona, he could tackle pretty good.

I don’t know where he is getting his information.

Westy mentioned the possibility in his presser.

Could be a signal that Cro will be returning punts; and that the notion that one of those guys will be replacing Wilson is a red herring. I wouldn’t mind seeing Cro returning punts at all. The guy can fly. And it would be nice to have a legit threat back there for once.
