Santonio Holmes 11/17 Press Conference
On trying to get out to a fast start against Houston…
Right now, that’s not even our focus. The main thing is to just come out and play ball. I think the past two games we’ve been completing passes, we’ve been running the ball pretty good and I think that’s probably the biggest thing is to get both of those aspects of the game going early. When we’ve had Mark (Sanchez) completing passes, he’s a lot more agile in the pocket and more precise with his passes when he’s completing passes early. When the run game gets started, it opens up both the pass and the run game against those guys (Houston). They have good guys up front and that’s what they’re going to use to stop us. We have to be ready to play big on the outside.
On wanting to win at home this week…
You always want to win at home. You never want anybody coming to your hometown and taking a victory. That’s probably going to be our biggest focus is not letting anybody else come in here and (beat us). It’s just something you don’t want to happen, regardless of how good you play or what you’re looking at doing against these guys, you can’t come up short and let them beat you in your home.
On what he thinks the key is for the offense on Sunday…
It’s making completions, moving the ball up and down the field and putting points on the board. I think if we put points on the board early, it’s going to allow our defense to get out and play with a fearless attitude, where they’re just going out, kicking butt and taking names. That’s what we need to get us started. It’s important that our defense go out and play and have fun.

Going vertical early....
This is a suspect secondary, to be kind. Let’s get an early lead going downfield, then play some ground and pound combined with some quick slant patterns to avoid the pass rush for Sanchez. I’d like to see if we can control the tempo and the scoreboard early, and set the tone for the game.
Glad to see W’s. but getting too old for on the road OT wins.
If we open up the downfield we win this game.
Darrelle Revis once won a game of Connect Four in three moves.
Just a quick note, his last name is Holmes, not Holes
