Jets Continue to Thrive Performing High Wire Act

Every week the Jets try our nerves. Every week they seem to pull a rabbit out of their hat at the end of the game. It wasn't always pretty. It wasn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but the Jets are 7-2 after a thrilling overtime victory on the road playing against a team with a lot of heart.

Santonio Holmes does it again on a slant in overtime.

The official recap will be up some time this evening. Celebrate below.

Yo Holmes to Bel Air.

Dude Sanchez was working a magic act in the 4th

They just couldn’t bring him down. Over three hundred yards last week, but I gotta say I think this is top 5 in his best games.

The Jets better start pounding some teams soon, because I think they’ve just about used up their luck allottment for the season.

Holmes stripped that honor from him like he had the ball stripped earlier.

Okay the kicker missed a sure 3 points but they should of scored TDs somewhere along the road in this game. Sanchez was nasty at avoiding pressure and great cuts at the end of the game. Game ball imo cotch period

Sanchez is the real deal

He is really coming of age with all these wins coming late. Jets do have some issues on defense though. Rex better take the play calling back from Pettine, cause this D is middle of the pack right now.

Should you choose to test my resolve in this matter, you will be facing a finality beyond your comprehension, and you will not be counting days, or months, or years, but milleniums in a place with no doors.

Sanchez

I loved every aspect of Sanchez today. Even his INT was a smart play knowing that we would have to punt it on the next play, we probably wouldn’t have gotten that far on a punt.

He was just an animal out there. He probably should have been sacked 10 times, but he continued to get out of there and make plays. All of this was with some injury in his leg, very impressive stuff from the Sanchize.

Only issues with today’s game that I can see is Folk’s 3 misses and the defense. Game wouldn’t have been in overtime if Folk hadn’t missed that field goal that botched off the post.

Defense doesn’t look the same as 2009 and personally I think we have a better personnel this year than 2009. We have to really think about what we’re trying to do on defense and get better at our weaknesses and capitalize our strengths.

Overall, awesome game! J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS! Lets go Steelers!

Steelers & Pats play tonight.

And I think our games against them in December will be the most important games of the year.

What's that about?

by Brian. on Nov 14, 2010 5:27 PM EST up reply actions

definitely

Yeah the Pats game is already on MNF. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Jets/Steelers game flexed to Sunday night.

Sanchez was just nasty today

And by nasty I really mean stellar. He showed today he can really be a playmaker. How did he stay up on some of those supposed to be sacks? Just fantastic.
Big ups to Cotchery, too. He made some very key catches today.

Eli must be helping Sanchez with being elusive

Sanchez reminded me of Eli and even Big Ben with his elusiveness at times. I think this kid believes in himself and we really do finally have a franchise QB.

two weeks ago most jets fans just hated Sanchez and Cotchery. Today the proved to every one of us we were wrong

I never hated either guy

I was disappointed in Cotchery though. He has set the bar very high during his time with the Jets. When he starts having a bunch of drops, it concerns you a bit. Sanchez is only as good as Schotty’s game plan will allow.

by YankeesJets on Nov 14, 2010 5:17 PM EST up reply actions

I didn't.

Sanchez is still a young QB. I realize we went to the AFC championship last year, but the kid had ONE year as a starter at USC. ONE. That’s it. He’s still gonna have off days. Hell, Peyton Manning has off days.

I think he’s gonna be really good in time. He keeps showing flashes of greatness that will solidify in time. The most important think we’re seeing from him this year is the ability to carry the team when it needs to be carried.

J-Co had a bad game. Again, they happen.

by cult hero on Nov 14, 2010 5:43 PM EST up reply actions

Bad game?

What makes Cotchery’s game bad? From what I remember, didn’t drop anything today. Had a touchdown. Made an insane catch WHILE INJURED for a first down.

by joebealey on Nov 14, 2010 5:53 PM EST up reply actions

Not today.

I was referencing the Packers game.

If he dropped the ball 20 times today that play in OT makes up for it. I just got to watch it on highlights and both he and Sanchez was amazing that play.

by cult hero on Nov 14, 2010 5:54 PM EST up reply actions

He is...

And I think a lot of people think that a single year in the NFL for a guy like Sanchez is the same as a year for a guy like McCoy. Sanchez was behind from the start. On the upside, we’ll probably have him for a long time. (Which is good. I won’t need to get a new jersey.)

by cult hero on Nov 14, 2010 10:02 PM EST up reply actions

Our team is what our record says we are ...

And our record says we are lucky. Our record also says that we are in first place. Next week, we have to show that we belong there.

Im still in shock

Cotchery is a hero, Sanchez is our savior, Holmes is our magic; THESE JETS ARE MIRACLE WORKERS.

by JetKing55 on Nov 14, 2010 5:20 PM EST reply actions

Agreed

I really have to agree with this. The play calling in the Ravens game was just terrible. Schotty played right into the Ravens hands by running it right into the heart of their D Line on just about every 1st and 2nd down. They have one of the best front 7s in the game, for chrissakes!

Against GB, it wasn’t ONLY Schotty’s bad playcalling, but some poor execution by a number of guys. Dropped passes made Sanchez look bad. Still, the run game was sorely underused against a weak run D in GB.

Just goes to show that every game is different and requires different strategy. What works against team A may not work against team B. Schotty has shown he is a poor game planner.

Nothing wrong with gutting out these road wins, no matter who you play. The next two games are home games, and I want to see this team come out and dominate.

this game really made clear

1. we might need a new kicker.

2. the coaches have zero trust in our backup’s.

Really great game

Something he’s gotten a lot better about is 3rd Downs, early in the season our conversion rate was middling to poor, today it was fantastic. Really liking the maturing of our offense.
