LaDainian Tomlinson Named AFC Offensive Player of the Week
Jets' running back LaDainian Tomlinson has done nothing but prove doubters wrong this season. As such, he was recently named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his 19 carries/133 yard/2 TD performance last week against the Bills.
Eat it, A.J. Smith --- for the way you threw L.T. out like dirty laundry who was nothing but loyal to your organization, and also for the way you mocked him over his heart-felt blog post about the Chargers.
Well, he's not your problem now, because he's now here wearing green and looking sexy doing so, with 56 rushes for 341 yards and 3 TDs thus far this year.
That's right --- an amazing 6.1 YPC.
Tomlinson has shown us he can still turn on his burst speed in the open field, and is still a force to reckon with running in between the tackles as well. What a phenomenal pickup this has turned out to be, so kudos to GM Mike Tannenbaum and Jets' front office for getting it done on the cheap.
Hey A.J., the old man's still got it!

I wasnt furious but I was fairly unhappy when TJ was replaced with LdT, now I couldnt be happier. TJ is having a respectable year over in KC but LT can break away from defenders (not to mention break their ankles and tackles). Since no one is going to be able to stack the box against us anymore giving too much respect to our two superb wideouts, Im feeling a few more trap calls for LdT to get him into open space! I wanna pound the ball down Minnesota’s throat, do what they do but better. I really hope the Jets prove how great they can be on Monday night by dismantling Favre and the Vikings
Weird w/o the Visor
Even though LT didn’t look like the LT we’re all used to b/c of not rockin’ the dark visor, he sure did look the ’06 LT and Hall of Famer breaking ankles out there!
I was like a lot of people and didn’t like getting rid of TJ, but as long as LT and Greene stay healthy and McKnight proves himself worthy of a 4th round pick (like Leon) I’ll soon forget about TJ. Sorry, but that’s the way it goes!
Everyone should have known what LT was capable of with a great O-Line. I know they aren’t quite at the level they can be, but Slauson put a mean downfield block that made LT’s long TD run possible, that, and the sick side step.
I second, the suck it A.J. Smith sentiments—Thank you for your stupidity! Hope we can beat them in the playoffs, yet again!
I wasn’t that upset when the Jets let TJ go and got LdT. I thought LdT would give us the same production as TJ because lets face it. Anyone who watched TJ last year, he was either running through massive holes and getting to the 2nd level defense untouched or running for 1-2 yard gains. He never made anyone miss and barely broke any tackles and by the end of the season TJ ran out of gas. So I figured LdT could give us at least that, but man he’s been great, far surpassed my expectation.
I am still a little worried about how LdT is going to handle playing in the cold but hopefully he can keep it up.
I love how fans hear some fool on TV
talk about how LT is injury prone or how he can’t play in the cold and come back here and present as a possible cause for concern. Why can’t LT play in the cold? Because he hasn’t had to playing in SD?
Like I said before
The look in Lt’s and Jason Taylor’s eyes tell me everything their hungry especially LT to prove the doubters wrong, I think he wants to outplay Adrian Peterson let him know he’s still the best back in the league.
I hated that we signed
LT and let TJ go. TJ had a vastly superior season last year, even being injured for most of the 2nd half of last season. That said, LT is doing his Thing!
Love watching a hall of fame running back run inside, outside and receive
out of the backfield and he has an attitude too.makes me miss Curtis a little less.
We have had a nice run of Hall of Fame running backs...
And if TJ stays healthy. Tho not spectacular he is tough and steady and his numbers don’t lie. Man these will be huge shoes to fil in 2 more years when LT hangs it up. I thinks he wants a ring or two and he will break some records and move up. I say he notches 15 TD this year and 12-16 next year.
The JETS/NETS are coming!
Thomas Jones is not a Hall of Fame Running Back
He is the best RB in his own family, though, I’ll definitely give him that, since Julius Jones sucks.
