The Importance of Starting the Season With 3 Straight Divisional Wins
The Jets (3-1) are currently in first place in the AFC East.
Being one field goal away from starting off the season 4-0 is a pretty great thing to be able to boast about, but winning back-to-back-to-back divisional games is even tougher (after struggling and going 2-4 in AFCE play last year).
Jets now put themselves in a great position by winning two of these three games ON THE ROAD, with Minnesota and Denver on deck going into the bye week. They are probably looking at 4-2 at worst, and maybe even 5-1 with the bye to follow.
This week, Gang Green will likely be at full strength for the first time all season when they take on Brett Favre on Monday Night Football: Santonio Holmes, Darrelle Revis, and Calvin Pace are all likely to be in action.
The best part about starting 3-0 in the division this year?
At worst, Jets are looking at going 4-2 in the AFC East, and maybe even 5-1, as two of their last three divisional games are at home. All of this, in arguably the toughest division in football, which is a pretty comforting thought.
Things are setting up nicely for the Jets, we've just got to continue to be consistent, and take each game on a week-by-week basis. Regardless, this team looks like the real deal. J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!

Sorry but in the NFL nothing is a given
Dont chalk up any wins. 4-2 at worst in the division? You never know what can happen. I still remember 2008 when we were 8-3 and had a bunch of junk teams like the Seashawks and 49ers marked down as easy wins. Dont be so cocky, lets take it one week at a time. The Giants were 5-0 last year and missed the playoffs. One Game at a time please.
yeah not to be a downer
but at worst we are 3-3 going into the bye. and at worst we end up 3-3 in the division. That’s literally just what the definition of “at worst” is.
David Eckstein: so gritty they would eat him in the south for breakfast with some butter and sprinkle cheese.
Exactly. For a team that seems to subsist on stealing away hope and crushing dreams, we as fans sure do keep begging for more of the same, don’t we?
Let’s believe it when it happens this time, fellas.

I would agree but
Giants had the easiest 5 game schedule last year only tough team was Cowboys rest were bucs raiders etc. The way this team has played without key members of our roster has been pretty impressive, the team doesn’t look to be getting worse but better, I mean obviously if Snachez goes down than yeah. But like I said before look at Tomlinson’s eyes, look at the way Taylors been playing even thru injury these guys are hungry and seem to want to get back to that spot again. I mean the Colts don’t look unbeatable this year neither do the steelers we shall see but we look to be getting stronger.
While I do agree with your anything can happen stance
I must say that we play the Bills again on the final game of the season. If it comes down to it and we NEED that game… NO WAY we lose. Well there is a way. A 1% chance way we lose. make that a .1% chance.

Lol @ your comments on the dolphin's game thread
There’s a lot of dolphin fans on suicide watch lmao
LOL
One seriously told me that Sanchez is benefiting from our WR core and that’s why he’s playing better than Henne. The same core we had last year where Sanchez threw 20 INT’s. It’s called development. They seriously pulled the “Your WR’s are better” card on us. The same people that celebrated about Marshall admit our WR’s are better. Funny what people would do when their back is on the wall.

I remember reading somewhere (not on The Phinsider)
that JaMarcus Russell or J.P. Losman would put up the same numbers if they were in Sanchez’s position.

Sanchez's numbers would be worse
if the Miami D was able to intercept, sack, or force a fumble when they played us. So they refuse to accept the fact that their D was ineffective at shutting down Sanchez .

Every win is important.
As John pointed out last year, the reason we made the playoffs is because we beat the Texans in Week 1, giving us the tiebreaker by Week 16.
and the home of the... JETS!!!

Straighten up and fly right.
Well
It doesn’t look like were going to have to worry about Miami.

Three awful passes too lol.
You would have thought he was actually wearing a NE uniform. Great passes, just wrong tema lol.

Actually....
third pick wasn’t on Henne… that was on Marshall… he stopped on his route… hesitated and thus a pick. The first two were HORRIBLE. Both by a Miami prospect that they let go from their practice squad. Yikes.
GANG GREEN ALL DAY!
I put God first! Anything else comes a distant second, next to a cross-country third.
Being that I'm Nigerian, being a Jets' Fan only comes natural... it's all about that old Green and White.
You see, it's not about how you won the game, it's about how you played the game.... there's a difference. If you don't understand this, then you're losing big time.
I wish...
However… Miami just flat out had a bad game. They were killed on special teams. They put up 400 yards of offense and the Patriots, despite the nasty score, looked pretty lackluster. (Their defense is… pretty weak.)
Henne had a bad game, plain and simple.
I hope no one actually playing on the Jets views Miami as nothing to worry about. They’re gonna be desperate when they come to play us and the Pats.
Man, does it absolutely suck to be a Dolphins fan this year or what? Two huge divisional losses going into a bye, then you’re looking at Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Cincinnatti, and Baltimore.
By the halfway mark, 2-6 is a distinct possibility.
So is Miami not seeing the endzone for 4 weeks straight.
I hate the Dolphins
But I can’t not like Pennington. I hope he plays well in a lot of Dolphin losses. Although Henne will have to be really bad for a few more weeks for Chad to get a shot.
I am a huge Pennington fan
I was really hoping the Jets would bring him back as the backup instead of Brunell. I was kidding, I doubt the Fins let him start again. Henne isnt the savior they think he is. He isnt as bad as what the Bills have been putting out there but he is an average QB to me. I would rather have Matt Cassel.
Lets not forget that The Pats and Phins play on the last game of the year.
When we play the Bills the last game of the year! Could things get any better? MWUAHAHAHA

Best part of this game IMO
Brady only had one TD pass. Alllllll of the game’s big plays came on special teams. Brady didn’t do much, Moss had no catches and Welker was kept out of the endzone for the second straight game. Yes, yes they didn’t NEED to do anything, but at the same time if the Dolphins D could keep them in check I know when everyone (Pace, Revis, Holmes) is locked and loaded, we’re really gonna put our foot down in this division.
But...
When they did NEED a score, they marched right down the field. And they had to use a JET to punch it in.
Ok, never mind all that
