Utter Domination in Orchard Park
The Jets absolutely pounded the Bills today at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Nobody should go overboard. The Jets won big, but the Bills are one of the worst teams in football. They might even be the worst. This is what a contender should do.
There were plenty of legitimate concerns about the potential for a trap game. Divisional road games are always dangerous. The Bills played Miami and New England tough earlier. That was not the case here. The Jets completely dominated from the outset.
Leave your thoughts below. The offical recap will be up later.

I disagree that it was utter domination.
After playing it safe on the first FG attempt (blown), the game was in the muck for quite a while, with points being left on the field, turnovers not being taken advantage of, and the offense out of rhythm. Eventually the Jets closed the deal slowly, but it was not utter domination. It would have been if they had scored a second TD on the second drive, but honestly this was still a game at halftime, when it never should have been.

That argument could surely be made, although IMO the Jets controlled the tempo even when the scoreboard didn’t indicate it. Buffalo had two scoring drives, but outside of those they were completely inept. Nice to see the Jets finish them off instead of letting them hang around for a close finish, or even upset win, as has been the case so many times in the past.

The thing is, it was great that the Jets eventually put a stranglehold on the game, but great teams know how to turn the game early. It was okay against a bad team, but against a very good one – like how the Jets played against NE or MI – it is a big problem.
The Jets were killing it in the first drive, and should have continued on with it in the second drive. It was the same “go for the points” move that has backfired earlier, such as the Ravens game. A second TD and the whole game would have been over. Instead it became a hang around game for a half.
The biggest point is about game feel, and knowing how to control the game. The game was not in the Jets control when it should have been. The same opportunities are going to be there against much better teams.

So we didn’t dominate because we didn’t score on that one drive?
We beat them by 24 in their own house. We had twice the time of possession. They failed to convert a 3rd down. We rushed for over 270 yards. We forced 2 turn overs while having zero ourselves.
But we didn’t dominate because we didn’t score on that one drive.
It is one of the worst teams in the league, they were definitely in the game for the entire first half when they shouldn’t have been, TOs were not capitalized on (again), etc.
You have to pay attention the to NARRATIVE of the game. The end result was a domination statistically, but the process throughout the game was not. If the Jets had driven for a second TD instead of settling for the early FG (again), the tide would have been – in my opinion – overwhelming.
Further, your preferred plan of run, run, run produced exactly what I feared in the first half, a close game in which a TO could make a very big change in momentum. The Jets were fortunate to not have such a play, but they cannot be predicted. It is great that Sanchize has not thrown a pick, but it is also likely that he has not cured himself of this propensity either. Greene’s fumbling also is in question.
The point is, when you pay attention to the narrative of the game and the choices made a certain times, the Jets were ready to clamp down and end the game within 10 minutes, when in fact it took them a half. Against one of the worst teams in the league this failure is no big deal at all, you get many chances at it. But against good team (such as the Ravens), it ends up biting you in the butt.

Also CB, the title of this post was “utter domination” and not just “domination”. Utter means complete and in every way, at all stages of the game. It was not “utter domination” when really it could have been.

And it was. Lets not forget how fortunate we were to gain that possession prior to the missed kick to begin with. That was a flukey turnover.
Aside from one TD drive just before the half we were in absolute control of the game. Absolute control. And after that drive they went into half-time wiht all the momentem in the world and something to build on. But we still had a very commanding 17-7 lead. But still, they went into half with some positives and the opportunity to make some adjustments and get back into the game. So what did they some out to in the second half? A squashing.
They got the ball to start the 2nd half, went 11 yards on 5 plays and punted. We scored on the next drive. They get the ball back and fumbled on the first play; we then score another touchdown. They get the ball back, go 3 and out and punt it back to us. What do we do? Touchdown.
Thats utter domination.
lol you bring joy to me kv, you really do. If I ever meet you I’m treating you to coke in the hope of bringing out a smile.

Part of being truly positive is being realistic.

LOL, hey, no limit to how high you can raise the bar, right? Curtis Martin on Bill Parcells: I could have just gotten a 30yd TD run, and he would be yelling at me for carrying the ball on the wrong side.

And is that a dumb thing?
Run with the ball on the right side.

Would never happen
In an Ideal world, I would have all ten fingers on my left hand so my right hand could just be a fist for punching.
True
But with a couple of exceptions, it was total domination from a yardage standpoint, time of possession, points, etc. Once the second half started and we stopped them, I stopped worrying.

You should have been able to stop worrying earlier. Its a question of snuffing out the flame when you have the chance. At least they did it by the 2nd half, but…

+1
they are all self absorbed pissants with no mental toughness.
jets played great
they did what they were capable of doing but not to get cocky there def still has too tighten up a bit just causew there winning doesn’t mean they should stop the pounding the rookie wilson has a long way to go yet and they need to stop running past the qb on al out blitz’s and letting him out of pocket otherwise they rocked and glad too see sanches finnally speading the defence
sanfansico loss
so glad that mike s the head coach got bet again he is a airigant #$%%^ and hope his job is on the line
Going into this year, I actually thought he was a pretty good coach. I’m not sure I’ve ever changed my opinion on a guy so much in four weeks.

I hear you; pretty shocked at the way they’re unraveling. Singletary seemed like an effective motivator, especially the way he was getting production out of Vernon Davis. The highly regarded TE had a rough start in his first year.

I just liked how the offense has been helping the defense out latley by keeping them off the field
IDC if you have the best D ever, if they are on the field all game they will give up plays.

Beat reporters were saying he was walking alright around the bench and didn’t go back to the locker room. Just precaution to take him out probably. Didn’t look like it was serious.

Yeah I rewatched it like 10 times and didn't see anything that looked real bad
But still would feel better if we get official news, good to hear he was walking though.

You mean by the media and other teams/fans?
In an Ideal world, I would have all ten fingers on my left hand so my right hand could just be a fist for punching.
There are a lot of Jets fans who don’t appreciate this guy evidently. There have been threads on GGN about trading him, supporting the team’s decision not to give him a new contact, or releasing him to sign, of all players, Albert Haynesworth. Talk about no respect..

Oh I got you I guess I have missed a lot of that
Yea I love the guy, he is a big part of what we try to do every week.

They did what they needed to.
Good job Jets.
Darrelle Revis once won a game of Connect Four in three moves.
anyone see the Pats and Bills last week?
In an Ideal world, I would have all ten fingers on my left hand so my right hand could just be a fist for punching.
Point spreads don't mean a whole lot....
but they do tell you what the money guys think. Jets were less than TD favorite which onthe face of it seems ridiculous now. But at least the guys putting money down thought they would have their hands full.
They coasted and I for one was never evenly mildly worried that the game would be close when the 4 qt came.
Hoping to see Favre knocked into retirement next week.
