Nick Folk's Field Goal a Record Setter
Nick Folk's field goal was significant in the game. It will also go down in Jets history.
K Nick Folk established a team record and a career long with a 56-yard field with6:47 remaining in the third quarter. His field goal surpassed the previous team record of 55 yards, accomplished four times, most recently by Jay Feely versus MIA (11/1/09). Last week versus the Vikings, Folk matched his previous long with a 53-yard field goal.
Jets kickers with 55-yd FG:
Jay Feely 11/1/09 vs. MIA
Jay Feely 11/9/08. vs. SL
John Hall 8/31/97 at SEA
Pat Leahy 12/14/85 vs. CHI
Like I said before, Folk probably does not have the leg to make a field goal that long at sea level, but it was still a heck of a kick.
Jay Feely is having a very good year for Arizona. His departure allowed the Jets to sign Jason Taylor, though. Many were skeptical, but at this point, the Jets are a better team with Folk and Taylor than they would be with just Feely.

Our special teams has been special so far this year. The real unsung hero is Weatherford. I dont remember the last punter we had that I felt good about. He is just crushing his kicks this year.
I am also very happy with Folk. My confidence in him grows every week. He hasnt had to kick to win, meaning in OT or with the clock at 2 seconds, but I hope that we can count on him in the tough spots!

Really Special
I’m not sure why the jets are keeping such a low key attitude towards Nick Folk, but this guy is lights out. He is smooth, accurate – the only thing I’d like to see is a consistently deeper kickoff. Maybe they don’t want to be jinxed…
OK, I'm Sold...
I believe that this guy can kick us into the Playoffs.
At the very least, Folk has proven that last season was an aberration.
But don’t cry when he chokes on a chip-shot game-winning field goal (or several) in the playoffs. Plenty of kickers better than him have had great regular seasons and completely folded under the playoff pressure.
Like I said before, Folk probably does not have the leg to make a field goal that long at sea level, but it was still a heck of a kick.
so his 53 yarder in wet conditions on Monday night wouldn’t have made it from 3 more yards? It sure looked like that from my angle.
