The Thomas Jones debate ended.

When Thomas Jones was released there were many people, including fans in this blog, that hated the move. Some even went as a as to predict low rushing stats and say that LT was a total washout, the without TJ, the AFC's rushing leader for 2009, the Jets would not be able to run the ball.

Lets take a look Thomas Jones's stats through four games this year.

                              G    RUSH     YRD      Y/G      AVG      L      TDS      F      FL

Thomas Jones 4       60        236        59      3.9      27      1         0      0

Jamaal Charles 4      50        325      81.3    6.5      56      1         1       1

I included his battery mate Jamaal Charles as comparison. With the same o-line another RB has outgained TJ 89 yards in ten less carries for a 3.9 avg. And that is with a decent passing game. He has also caught 2 passes for 6 yards. In comparison these are the stats for LT and SG.

Rushing G Rush Yds Y/G Avg Long TD Fum FumL
LaDainian Tomlinson 5 76 435 87 5.7 31 3 1 0
Shonn Greene 5 62 280 56 4.5 23 1 2 1

They have played one more game and played against better defences yet their numbers are better. And LT has caught 17 passes for 95 yards, SG 2 for 17 yards.

While we are at it lets look at Leon Washington

G    RUSH YRD  Y/G     AVG     LONG   TD    FUM   FL

Leon Washington  4    12    30   7.5  2.5      7        0    0         0

Has caught 2 passes for 28 yards. On a good note for LW is that he has returned 10 KO for 404 yards and 2 tds, both tds coming against a horrible San Diego special team that practically lost the game against the Raiders.

Also if you care to look at Faneca you would see that the Jets front office made very good moves last year by releasing those guys. I would say that Tannenbaum knows what he is doing. Oh and Lito Sheppard looked bad agaisnt the Jets on Monday night, but that was expected.
