You May Exhale
The Jets must have a pretty good football team because it takes quite a lot to win a game when making that many mistakes. This game should have been over in the first half. The Jets kept letting Minnesota hang around and hang around. They kept shooting themselves in the foot. Brett Favre got hot. It evoked reminders of the bitter home loss to the Falcons last year.
Then somebody stepped up and made a play, and the Jets are 4-1. Woody Johnson should be billed for any lost productivity in offices across the Tri State area tomorrow.
Celebrate the win below. A late night edition of the official recap will be up as soon as I can get it up.

Man, Jenn Sterger may have said no to Favre, but if he ever propositioned the ESPN announcers, he would score every time. That drooling over him was ridiculous. I had to turn down the volume and listen to the Jets radio broadcast down the stretch.

GOODBYE SOJ
This is the way great teams do it. It may be ugly but they always seem to find a way to win. I’m no longer thinking “Oh, here we go again the Same Old Jets.” But I’m calm and supremely confident that our team is gonna step it up when the game is on the line.

Yep. Three times last year they let the other team take the ball down the field to win on the last drive. Now they’re confident and able to make the big play.

At all but great win way to step up cromartie took a perfect throw to get the touchdown
Totally agreed
His uncanny agility was completely missing. At 100% he’s probably the one guy in the league who has enough quickness along with cover skills to pitch a shutout on Harvin in a game.

He did look pretty bad
Any of you watch the Chargers/Raiders game? Namdi was on Floyd most of the game, and Floyd blew up.
Yeah...
If he goes to hold out again, screw him. All that money so he could play wuss coverage against Baltimore (and be a major factor in the loss), go out of New England and find himself still playing catch up on game 5. And why? An injury that’s the result and sitting out during the preseason.
I hope he puts it together this week because Denver is pass happy and is no gimme game.
On the other hand, Cromartie was awesome and Wilson was even starting to show some sparks.

Keep it on
I stopped commenting during the games after baltimore. You won’t see a comment from me during another game all year.
It’s so funny when you’re a Jets fan and have witnessed every form of bad luck that could be conceived by the human mind, how superstitious we’ve become. It seemed like we kept giving up big plays while I’m watching the game at the bar, but if I watched on a different screen we played better. So I start watching the game on a tv that’s 3 times as far away thinking it makes a difference.
Then we get a game winning interception.
I’m telling you’s right now: we are all freakin NUTS…

The bald white dude...
I don’t know his name, but he’s the only person I didn’t want to beat down. He talked about how great the O-line was and how the game could have EASILY been a blow out had the Jets capitalized in the red zone a couple times.
Oh and...
If I had to listen to one more Jon Gruden reach-around on Brett Favre I was gonna throw up.
I thought they are suppose to be unbiased?
I mean Gruden and Co were openly rooting for Favre to get another shot with the ball. The were more happy with the 2 minute warning gaffe than the Vikings were. Never thought I would miss Dennis Miller in the booth.
Only the really good ones are...
And they’re rare.
I hate Jon Gruden. I hate him with a passion. If he goes back to coaching, the team he coaches—whoever it is—will displace the Colts as my favorite to root against. The guy creams his pants over every franchise superstar QB out there. The thought of having to watch Gruden cover a game where two QBs like Brady, Favre or Manning are playing terrifies me.
I really wish they’d find guys with LESS personality and LESS opinion. I like my commentators cold, by the numbers and just the facts ma’am. I don’t want to feel like they’re cheering either side, even if it’s mine.
I know all about Gruden, I live in Tampa, lol
You want to talk about wearing your welcome out. People hate him down here. Im the same way with broadcasters. I like the Vin Scully or Pat Sumerall type. I hate the rah rah wrestling announcer type.
You know...
I’d never thought about it, but that’s just what he sounds like… a pro-wrestling announcer. It’s pathetic.
Ironically, the guys I can think of that I DO like, I can’t remember by name. I think that’s a good thing though.
To be fair though
If good ol’ J.R. became a MNF commentator that would be friggin’ cool as hell >_>

Harvin got him a couple times, once for that TD. Then he got caught peekin (like Rex said) in crunch time and gave up that first in the red zone. Couple times Favre just missed the throw. He got used all night.

and he helps so many different ways return wr he runs the wildcat, even if the wildcat doesn’t produce big plays in the game it makes the other teams defense scheme against it taking reps and time away from other things they want to defend against us

Mike
I saw a comment on one of the posts that said you won’t be back there after monday. Maybe you can find a pick of Lowery’s TD to leave behind.
Comment does not equal actual action.
Then again, with the Norseman….

They hate me so much there.
I’m like a celebrity villain there. I think i’ll make a farewell post there wishing them luck. I have no quarell with them, to be honest I just want to get away from those insane whiners. I’ll be gone, talk to Denver fans and hope they won’t take it as bad. I’ll try to keep the opinions to a minimum in case they react the same.

Visiting opposing blogs during games isn't a smart move, though.
You’re 90% likely to get someone pissed at you, especially during/after the game, and ESPECIALLY when they’re losing/they’ve lost.
by fanoftheunderdogs on Oct 12, 2010 1:36 AM EDT up reply actions
I was there before the game though.
I congratulated them on the Moss trade but said Favre had to get better for Moss to have a contribution. They didn’t like hearing about Favre being bad and it to Hell from there.

Oh man.
“Dissing” Brett Favre (aka not drooling over him in your comments) will get you insta-hate from the Norseman people.

uhhh, you would be surprised...
there is a wide spectrum of opinion on favre. i am one of the more/most critical of him, his antics, and his mistakes. i get a lot of people who try to force my opinion to become homerish. but, i resist and i stick to the realistic point of view, and consider him a rental / prima donna.
the visitors who talk football are always welcome. the visitors who try to piss people off because that is how they get self-gratification, are the ones that get dozens of posters calling them out for their sideways behavior. it starts out as inquiry, giving the benefit of the doubt, but when it is obvious how insincere the person is, then there is no real reason for mercy.
those posters usually get recognized by everyone and get called out on their antics with great collective laughter. it even builds unity on the board !!!
in the future there will be no war...there will only be rollerball.
Anytime
You can get some idiot to say that you won’t be back, and then another to say that if you do, they’ll spit in your face, i consider that a great win. Who the hell is stupid enough to say they’ll spit in your face on a message board. It’s just dumb.
Sanchez should not have been chucking it 44 times.
rainy wet night, running game working, a lead. Why did Schotty pick now to have Sanchez throwing all over the NMS?
And the running game was clicking.
I didn’t get it.
Did you stop the think..
The running game was clicking BECAUSE Sanchez was throwing it all over the place?
by fanoftheunderdogs on Oct 12, 2010 1:30 AM EDT up reply actions
It's what Schotty does
Greene looked pretty good today pounding it up the middle, and he barely touched the ball. And we ran the wildcat a few times, but didn’t run an option one time.
Greene looked horrible until he broke that run back outside. He was terrible for most of the night.

What??? He ran pretty good, i thought. Moving the pile and punishing guys. With him you gotta take a couple 2-3 yarders and then he’ll get going and start ripping 7 per carry. He’s a rhuthm guy.
There is no way he was averaging more than 3.3 yards a carry before his TD.
LT was gashing them left and right the WHOLE Game.

I must have watched a different game. Greene gained at least 2 yards on every carry. And without the 23yd TD, he had 9 carries for 34 yards.
These were Greene's runs before his TD

A 3.7 average.
Not 3.3, but a pretty poor average.

And by halftime he had
3 rushes for 7 yards.

He had
1 carry in the first qtr for 3 yards,
3 carries for 7 in the 2nd qtr.
4 carries for 21 in the 3rd
and
2 carries for 26 yards and a td.
All of those yards came up the middle. Why wouldn’t you run a guy up the middle a little more when he’s gaining yardage on every attempt. He was never dropped behind the line. His worst run was a 1 yard plunge out of the wildcat.
And in what world
is a 3.7 yard average “pretty poor”?
A 3.7 per average qualifies you for 37th best in the NFL
If you don’t think that that is “pretty poor” I don’t know what is.

You are by far the ultimate pessimist on these boards
He had a 5.7 yard average for the game. You want to take out his longest run, and then compare that to the others in the league. Either you’re so stubborn that you don’t want to admit you may have been wrong, or you’re just nuts.
since when does a running back get credit for always making positive yards.
He was very sluggish in the first half, and LT was dynamite.

Why wouldn’t you run a guy up the middle a little more when he’s gaining yardage on every attempt.
a). Because you have 3 downs to get 10 yards, not to get 5 yards.
b). Because LT, your other back, was getting MORE yards.
c). Because what I said was that he had a pretty poor yards per before he got that TD (and LT would have gotten that TD just as well, as far as I can tell).

Thanks Mr. Pessimist
By the way…. 3.7 × 3 downs = 11.1 yards. The entire point of the comment thread was about throwing the ball 44 times, not taking carries away from LT. And if saying that LT would have gotten that TD too is your way of rationalizing your comments, good for you.
Yeah, I'm with you.
Greene was punching it through the Vikes front four a lot.
by fanoftheunderdogs on Oct 12, 2010 1:38 AM EDT up reply actions
And he was taking the load against the Ravens I believe.
If LT was getting those carries we probably would have won. I want them in the playoffs SOOO BAD.

If he's a rhythm guy, he's in trouble if LT keeps running like he is.
LT was exploding off the line, through the line. over the line.

Totally. Ld is messing up his groove. But if he gets carries he’ll produce. He’s one ofthose that get stronger as the game goes on.
But you gotta ride LD as long as he’s running like this. He’s not good, he’s freakin great right now.
I love the way LT is running the ball. I'm perfectly happy to give it to him and let Greene sit.

And...
I like when Greene comes in late and fresh. That’s not what a tired defense wants to deal with.
do agree, but haven't liked what I have seen from Greene's first two steps.
He seems a bit sluggish.

wow didn’t realize he threw that many times.
In an Ideal world, I would have all ten fingers on my left hand so my right hand could just be a fist for punching.
I seen that.
I’m surprised he threw so much. I think it was because he wasn’t having the best game he could of. One touchdown or long pass was all we needed at so many points of the game. He was letting it fly and we had chances to get those long balls. I think they kept him throwing because they knew if he found his rhythm the game would be over. We beat them with Sanchez having one of the worst games of the year. He had to slow down at some point, I’m glad it resulted in a win.

But I might get banned for it… The editor there emailed me apologizing for their actions at the blog. I guess he didn’t want to publicly tell them they were being assholes. We said they usually take opinions better and all this other crap. I don’t wanna crap on his site after he apologized to me and said I did nothing wrong. Lol. If you really want to stick it to them just tell them tough loss and that it sucks they didn’t get Moss sooner because they definitely would have made the playoffs. Let it burn.
And that right there
Is how crackback gets under their skin enough to get banned
Its not worth it
if anyone knows frustration its jets fans; let them wallow but dont throw salt in the wound. we’ve felt their pain before
Yeah
We nearly felt it tonight, can I say that this is a different Jets team? I dont know yet, but it feels a little different winning games like this.
FINALLY
My GGN account is fully active! Way to win, GANG GREEN ALL DAY BABY! I’d like to say one thing though. I don’t like the way Sanchez’s stats ended up. He had a somewhat solid game, but our Wide Receivers dropped balls all night long. Nobody seemed to mention that.

Hey now
I understand that completely, but I really want to see Sanchez excel in a big way. Beyond the fact that he’s my favorite teams franchise QB, I like him a lot as a person.

Gotta give my overall...
We played “okay” overall. This is the worst Sanchez has played since the first game and our secondary as a unit is still lackluster. Revis is a serious disappointment and will probably continue to be for a few more games. Also, the dropped balls were hurting.
Oh yes, and the clock management near the two minute warning about killed me.
Now, with that said…
Like the Dolphins game, this is the sort of game the Jets would have blown last year. They didn’t. While a lot of Favre’s mistakes saved them at the end, the Jets’ mistakes in the red zone kept this from being a slaughter so it kind of evened out.
The offensive line was killer. Cromartie deserves the game ball. I’m excited about adding Holmes to the mix. Folk is killing it. LT is unbelievable.
Sanchez wasn’t as bad as the stats suggest though and if THIS is a bad game, I’ll take it over 5 picks. The kid is coming along well. A great team isn’t a team that never makes mistakes. You’re always gonna have games like tonight. A great team is a team that pulls through anyway and that was the most impressive thing about tonight.
Way to go boys. J-E-T-S! JETS! JETS! JETS!
Wha' happened...
Brooklyn borne Jet Fan Over here in Scotland, UK as my wife cleans up her Med degree.
