Julius Peppers as a Jet?
Julius Peppers agent is giving signs that he would not like to resign with the Panthers.
I would love to see it happen even if it may be the most unlikely signing to happen ever. His pass rushing skills are out of this world and he plays like a champ every down. Having a guy like him would allow us to drop more people into coverage on the other side of Revis and create even more havoc for enemy quarterbacks.
what do you guys think?

He's only a pass rusher
In the 3-4 he would have to cover backs, tight-ends, and play some zone. He would be great if the Jets rush him every down, but in Rex’s defense, I don’t think he would be the right fit.
I think he is a good enough penetrator
that you can line him up basically everywhere and just have him rush the passer. Rotate him around the LB spots, he can lineup as a down lineman, wherever. They may always know he is coming, but they still won’t know which other 3 are coming, and besides, knowing Peppers is coming and where he is coming from hasn’t exactly help teams stop him. Normally I agree, that a 4-3 DE is iffy moving to OLB in a 3-4, but I think Peppers is so good that you can line him up all over, have him rush and get penetration, whether its starting off outside, or on the line in a 3 point stance. Unfortunately, it will be nearly impossible to get him.

Current Rules Would Make It Impossible For The Jets To Get Him
Being an uncapped year really limits what the Jets can do. Even when they win, they somehow lose.
Only In Madden my friend
I dream the same thing as you.

Money is a Huge issue
Adam Schefter reported the Jets are trying to get Revis on a long-term deal this offseason. Hes gonna make a shit-ton of cash, and theres only 1 more year left on his rookie deal. Signing peppers woulld simply be too expensive.
He has more than one year left.
He signed a six year rookie contract with this being his third year, therefore he has 3 years left.
Not exactly
His contract now has 4 years total, 2 of the years have been erased dude to stipulations I dont know about. But this is his last year on the contract. Sign him up now, before he has ANOTHER monster year and asks even MORE money and before he can test the market.
We can't.
Like legally, it isn’t allowed. Unless Leon Washington leaves and gets a 20 million dollar contract from somebody else, we just can’t do it.

I think Peppers is an end in the 3-4. I don’t get why everybody assumes he’d move to linebacker.

I don't think he's the Elvis player
Ideally the Jets need a standout player that can and will switch between pass rushing defensive end and outside linebacker between downs to fully complete the front seven in what Rex coined “the 3 1/2 – 3 1/2 defense”. That means a smart athletic player with the skill set of or similar to Elvis Dumervil.
Peppers isn’t that player, in fact, he’s way more expensive than we could really expect to pay for the Elvis player off the draft, trade, or free agency. Couple that with the near impossibility of losing a free agent at the salary level that Peppers demands and it becomes a Madden fantasy.
Get the Elvis player. Build the secondary around Leonard and Revis and you will indisputably be the best NFL defense. In the big D game managing O style we follow our offense doesn’t need many tweaks. If you have to sign anybody get a hands or slot receiver to take pressure off Sanchez Cotchery and Edwards if we keep him.
I'm not sure why you keep bringing up Dumervil in comparison to Peppers
Elvis isn’t even in the same galaxy as Peppers as a player. Yeah, we can’t afford him, but saying he doesn’t fit because he isn’t the “Elvis type player” (lol) is absurd. Peppers is a better pass rusher, and all Dumervil can do is rush the passer. He is horrible in coverage and in defending the run.

I didn't say he doesn't fit
I only suggested going after a player more diverse and who you could easily rotate around the front seven.
The “Elvis type player” is cheaper and more useful. I thought he looked impressive in the games I watched him in this year. Obviously you disagree.
Gotcha, sorry for the snark.
I thought you were trying to say that Peppers wasn’t as good as Dumervil. Gotcha, sorry. Re-reading your original post I actually never saw the second paragraph, somehow skipped right over it. I don’t think Dumervil is bad, he is just not Peppers, and under false pretenses (thinking you said he was better then Peppers), I hyperbolated (not real word, I know) Dumervil’s weaknesses. He isn’t great in coverage, and he has improved on the run game (though still a lot to be desired, this just my opinion), but he is a terrific pass rusher.
