Kerry Wants to Stay a Jet
I didn't watch the SNY interview, but http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2010/01/ny_jets_s_kerry_rhodes_says_he.html says that Kerry is looking to stay here.
"I have to re-evaluate myself and see if I fit in here,'' he said on SNY's "Wheelhouse.''
Even though Rhodes didn't demand a trade, the Jets will likely listen to any offers, keeping their options open as well.
"I like New York,'' said Rhodes. "The Jets drafted me. I've been a vital key in what we've done. Right now, I'm looking forward to being a Jet. ... Rex Ryan is my guy. I like Rex a lot. He called me again today and (repeated) that they want me here.
"To be honest, I do want to be here. This is New York. This is the team that gave me my first shot, a fourth-rounder, a lot of people passed on me. They gave me the big contract (five years, $33.5 million). I want to be here but sometimes circumstances happen.
"There is going to be a little bit of talk between us (he and the Jets) in the next couple of weeks but I want to be here and the team wants me here.''
What makes this still interesting is that he said "circumstances happen" and Rex was never committal about weather Kerry Was going to stay. I personally hopes he stays, its just one less hole to fill in the offseason. I think Rex was just showing Kerry that the Jets organization are going to do what they say they will do by not disclosing his conversation, and expect Kerry to do the same.
I can only speculate the conversation, but I think it was more about Kerry's role and if he is a fit/happy in it. Honestly, I can't find a place that seems like a better place to play; hes making good money, hes in a defense that brings out the best (or worst) in the DB's, and Rex is about as likable of a guy there is. I have a hunch Kerry is here to stay.

I disagree.
If the coach and organization say they want you here but would trade you if didn’t want to be here, then the only “circumstances” that would get in the way of him staying with the team would be his decision to leave. I think its clear he doesn’t want to be here or this wouldn’t even be an issue.
He’s knows exactly whats expected of him and he’s familiar with the system. He was part of the number 1 defense in the league, his team was one win away from the Superbowl, and he’s arguably the best City in the world.
He wants to be begged to stay. He thinks he’s better than he really is. He thinks he’s on the same level as Ed Reed, and has compared himself to Reed on multiple occasions. I say trade the prima donna for picks and try to grab another S in the draft/FA. Let him be a malcontent with his buddy Braylon on another team.
I agree with you.
+1 on everything but Braylon. I think we need him.
"Relax, all right? Don't try to strike everybody out. Strikeouts are boring; besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls. It's more democratic."

I'd want to be overpaid too
I think Rhodes knows he is not playing like he should and is getting paid more than he is worth. He keeps comparing himself to Reed so when he does leave he will get paid like Reed instead of getting paid by his bad statistics. If not he’s just stupid
