On Sunday we saw the end of a great season, as we fell to the mighty Colts 30-17 in a highly competitive game. Seeing as it's officially the off-season I have decided to reflect on the season. Basically, I'm going to rate our players 1-5 with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest. More after the jump. Seeing as i'm a dedicated student I don't have that much free time. So for today I will only post the 5 gameball players/units/coaches. Comment below if you agree or disagree or would like to add anything. I will do 4 game balls tomorrow. And I should do one every day. Enjoy.
DARRELLE REVIS- Simply put this man is the Best defensive player in the NFL. Period. Wait Charles Woodson won I thought? Yes, because idiotic sports writers scanned a stat sheet or played eenie minie moe with their selections, Revis not winning was a travesty. He was the best player on the Best Defense. 6 ints (career high), led the league in passes defended and was a very good tackler. When your name is a substitute for Manhattan you know your doing something right.
DAVID HARRIS- Unless your not a Jets fan you might not know this guy. In my humbled opinion he is a top 3 MLB. He toughed out a gimpy ankle against San Diego and got 2 sacks on Manning, who had only been sacked 10 times the whole season. His statline for the season? 127 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 2 ints, 2 ff. Nasty.
THE ENTIRE JETS OFFENSIVE LINE- They kept Mark Sanchez clean basically throughout the whole season. The Colts didn' sack Sanchez once on Sunday. They have 3 pro-bowlers (Faneca, Mangold, Brick) and an All pro Center. They really were the base of this team and helped us get through our rocky midseason slide. Oh and they've started over 30 games together. Impressive.
MIKE TANNENBAUM- I think we all have realized how important our young players were to our playoff run. Sanchez, Keller, Mangold, Greene, Revis, Harris. All great picks. The better part? Only Sanchez was a lottery pick, now that is getting bang for your buck. Pouha was very solid after Jenkins went down. And trying to be objective even after getting toasted, Lowery is good value for a 4th rounder. Vernon Gholston was really the only big miss, and I thought about dropping Tanny to a 4 gameball.
REX RYAN- The man is larger than life. (yay for puns.) He transformed a decent defense into the top unit of the league. He schemed the heck out of Tom Brady, Rivers, Palmer, Schaub, and most impressively Jamarcus Russel! (sarcasm) But most of all Rex has given this organization the outlook that we will win, we expect to win, I think during the whole Colts game not one thought of Same ol Jets entered my mind. He's also hilarious (see press conferences) so that's bonus points.
