A Game Ball for Marty
The Jets sent Marty Schottenheimer a game ball after their win over San Diego Sunday. Schottenheimer is the son of Jets offensive coordinator Brian and the former coach of the Chargers, the team that fired him after a 14-2 season in 2006.
Jets coach Rex Ryan sent a game ball to Marty Schottenheimer after last weekend's playoff upset of the San Diego Chargers, the team that fired the father of New York's offensive coordinator following a 14-2 regular season.
Brian Schottenheimer said he was touched when he learned of his boss' gesture Tuesday -- and joked that it didn't even occur to him to do it.
Very nice touch. It's things like this that make it obvious why Brian Schottenheimer says he's happy with Gang Green and why he turned down a chance to interview for the Bills' head coaching job. I've heard very informal chatter that Eric Mangini was a nightmare for assistants. It goes largely unnoticed among his other good attributes, but it seems like Rex has created a positive work environment.

It seems to me that quite a few people on the team got better as the year went on.
Rhodes, Keller, Sanchez, Ellis, Greene to name a few.
Shotty is also one of those guys, we wanted his head earlier and i complained that my wife predicts his plays. He has now got my confidence with the play calling and has recently had some excellent games in doing so.
Let go after going 14-2? Damn right he gets that game ball as well as some revenge.
Curtis "my favorite" Martin - 1 of the best!
Rex is the man
You either love him, or hate him…. RIDE OR COLLIDE
