Brian Schottenheimer to Interview for Bills

Yahoo! Sports says Brian Schottenheimer will interview with the Bills once the season ends for their vacant head coaching position.

Beyond Billick, the Bills are also expected to interview New York Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer and San Diego Chargers defensive coordinator Ron Rivera. Nix has ties to both Schottenheimer and Rivera from his time working in personnel with the Chargers.

For those of you who want him gone, this is your best shot. Woody Johnson loves Schottenheimer and was impressed when Brian interviewed for the head job with the Jets a year ago. I've heard Rex Ryan was strongly encouraged to keep him. I don't see Brian being fired. Getting a head job is the way to get him out of Florham Park.

How would you feel about Schottenheimer going to a division rival?

Great News

Not only will this great rid of him from our hair, but this will insure that the Bills offense stays as anemic as possible. Good luck little Schotty, go get the job!

Thank God!!!

He might also go to BUF if his dad becomes the head coach.

I believe its likely

he will go

Lets look at the candidates

Brian Billick- Defensive coach with experience
Marty Schottenheimer- Offensive coach with experience
Brian Schottenheimer- Offensive Coach with no coaching experience
Ron Rivera- Defensive Coach with no coaching experience

There have been reports that the bills were looking for an offensive minded coach with experience. That fits one person. Marty Schottenheimer. That being said I think his first option as offensive coordinator will be Brian. Brian could also be chosen as Woody Johnson was impressed with him in his interview last year. I think its 75% he goes to Buffalo in one position or another.

I would guess Callahan would be promoted.

I believe that’s the plan should Schotty actually go. Callahan’s Raiders were league leaders in passing offense, and now the Jets have been at the top in rushing. The guy’s got a great offensive mind.

How much of it was Gruden’s work? I wouldn’t trust Callahan at all.

He won’t get the job. Trust me I would love to see him go. I just don’t think he is a good coordinator. Maybe if they hire his Dad he could still leave to be his OC.

We'll see

He’s very highly regarded because of his pedigree, and he seems to interview well. Plus, you could never put anything past the Bills the way that organization is run.

I said a couple of months ago that he would interview for a HC job this off-season and leave, and I think someone called me an idiot and said who would interview Brian.

Well let’s just see, I think he is as good as gone, Brian is a top x’s and o’s guy, he talks a good game, he has a good caliber and he just put together the best rushing attack in the league. (It’s all Bill callahan with his zone blocking however)

I hope he is gone, I think he will be, and it’s the best for bother parties. Sooner for later he is leaving, let’s get him out of their now.

I would consider giving calahan a chance

but with rex ryan at head coach, i might want to go get a good qb coach to help develop Sanchez. We get have a Defensive head coach, Offensive coordinator who is specialized in the run game and a rookie qb we hope to develop. I think we have to consider sanchez as a priority.

I hope that Bill is at least interviewed for the job, after all it was his zone blocking on the offensive line idea that really got this run game going. I mean he did lead the Raiders to the top ranked offence, including the top ranked passing offence, so he obviously can handle the passing game as well as the rushing one. I don’t think we should press him on Rex, he should be able to hire who he likes, but I do think we need to interview him.

Bills Fans Will Be Pissed If Schotty Gets The Job

They want and deserve a marquee name up there. I wouldnt be opposed to Callahan taking over. You need to keep the system in place, cant have Sanchez learning another system in year two.

I just dont think hes a good combo with Rex for some reason

i don't hate schotty like everyone else here

i don’t think he’s terrible, maybe not great, but we’ve had a lot of really bad coaches around here over the years and i don’t think he’s one of them.

maybe we can get someone better, but he’s not so awful that there will be an addition by subtraction.

by JetsFan1991 on Jan 3, 2010 3:10 PM EST reply actions

I actually agree with you. I think he’s got a brilliant mind and is sometimes too eager to show it with his play calling. I think he’ll get better if we stick with him, although I admit I sometimes get really frustrated myself.
