Bob Sutton

I heard on the radio that he may be a potential DC canidate for the Dolphins, it makes sense given that they want a guy who has experience with LBs. I know he was a Jets DC under Mangini, so what are your thoughts?

I think the best we ranked with him as DC was 16th and that was last year, 18th in 2007 and 20th in 2006. Then again with Mangini being a defensive guy, you have to wonder how much was him and how much was the Mangenius, similar to Pettine and Rex right now. Linebacking wise though I like him, and if you are struggling in that area he is a guy you want in the fold, worked with Vilma and Harris, not sure I would want him as my DC again, but the title he holds with us right now is about the right standing IMO

Aside from the scouting reports he could bring on the Jets, I don’t really see any wisdom in Miami hiring Sutton as DC. All three years he was coordinator there was a report about Mangini taking a more active role because the defense was struggling. You guys would be much better off with Nolan.
