Jets at Chargers Predictions

Well with Donald Strickland expected to be active the Nickel improves. With that said here goes my predictions

Darren Sproles returns a kickoff  for the score 0-7

Jets get the ball back and respond with a field goal. 3-7

Rivers throws an INT to Revis trying to go to Jackson. 3-7

Jets bust in the end zone with a Thomas Jones td run. 10-7

Phillip Rivers responds with a touchdown pass to Gates. 14-10

Before the half Sanchez hits Jerricho Cotchery on a Touchdown pass. The Jets go for two and convert it. 18-14

Halftime

After a three and out The chargers march down the field and cap it with a LT 2 yd td run 21-18

Jets respond well with a Jay feely yard field goal. Tied at 21

Rivers on a key third down looks for Gates and Rhodes intercepts it for a pick six.  28-21

Chargers kick two straight field goals and the Jets look sloppy on the Offense. 28-27

Bart Scott ralies the defense who get some key stops

Mark Sanchez then hits Braylon for a big TD. Norm challenges call is overturned Feely hits a field goal 31-27

Rivers on 4 and 8 trys to find the man on Revis Island but can't Jets regain the ball

After two Minute warning Feely hits another field goal (Clutch baby) and that proves to be to much for the chargers as they go down 34-27

I hope it doesn't play out like this...

There is no way the Jets can afford to get into a shootout with the Chargers. Our only hope of winning is going to be defense. If Chargers score more than 21 I expect us to lose.

Why would the Jets go for 2 up 16-14?

I don’t expect the Jets to score 34 and I certainly don’t expect San Diego to drop 27. Id say NY 21 Sd 17

?

he went for 2 because we were up 16-15 so we could be up a fg, an xp wouldn’t do much. Why would he go for 2 when he had a chance to go up 3.

The problem with your summary...

Rivers to Gates…Rivers to Gates…Rivers to Gates…You’ll be tired of hearing it and tune out the last 9 minutes of the game.

Maybe if you're playing Madden.

Worry about Phillipe making through the first 9 minutes.

It's gonna start of quite differently

Chargers win the toss, defer and regret that decision the rest of the game as the Jets chew up 8 minutes on the first drive, taking the lead 7-0. Greene to the right after running left all day so far.

Chargers get a couple first downs but end up punting.

Jets come back with a FG, but it’s now over 3 minutes into the 2nd quarter, 10-0 Jets.

Chargers march down the field and score a TD, 10-7 with 7 to go in the half.

Jets chew up the rest of the clock, Sanchez hitting Keller for a 12 yarder with about 40 seconds to go, 17-7

Chargers used up their timeouts on the Jets drive, hoping to get some time on the clock, but run out of time, thinking they’re settling for a Keding FG, but he misses, 17-7 at the half.

Jets D starts off strong in the second half, allowing a first down, but they stop the Chargers for a 3 and out on the second series, still 17-7.

Jets again use up a chunk of clock but settle for another FG, 20-7.

Chargers mix it up well enough to get another TD, but take a fair amount of time themselves, scoring just before the end of the 3rd, 20-14

Surprise, surprise, the Jets eat up the clock again, this time for over 8 minutes but come up short inside the 5. Feely puts them up 23-14.

Chargers continue to find the right mix and once again score 20 in the game, 3:30 to go, 23-21

Chargers know they can’t stop the Jets run game so go for the onsides kick. Jets recover, chew up the most of the clock and all of SD’s timeouts, missing a long FG with less than a minute to go.

V-Jax, who has been invisible all day lost on Revis island finally shows up, but not in a good way. He uses his height, going up for a high one. Revis flips him around and as V-Jax hits the ground the ball pops out, right into Rhodes’ hands. Game over after a kneel-down. Jets win 23-21.

I admire

the specificity of your predictions – most d-bag “experts” on tv fill their predictions with “ifs”.
