Experience

That was one of the two categories I initially had as “EVEN”… Dallas/Minny ‘defense’ being the other.

The Jets have the two best coordinators in football right now, FACT…. but I gave the edge to Norv Turner/Ron Rivera and SD because of their playoff experience. They simply know how to win games in the playoffs (just not AFC championship ones, lol). But theyve been there, and they know how to win. Rex has the experience, but not as a head coach.

Reading my mind. Thats what I initally had it as also… but to be honest, when I wrote in “even”, in that one and the Dallas/Minny category, it messed my chart’s margins up for some reason. lol

I could be talked into either side for both of those two categories…. but I give the VERY slight edge to SD in coaching because of experience… and a VERY slight edge to dallas in defense because I don’t trust Minny’s CB’s regarding giving up the big play.

you must be drunk or not well versed in his history if youre giving a coaching edge to Norv Turner.
I dont care if Rex is a rookie, I would trust him more in January.

Matt you realize that there are only two coaches that are accounted for when the spreads are calculated in Vegas right? One is Belichick in a positive way. Norv is the other… in a negative way. I’m not saying that the spread itself means anything but there is definitely a reason for that >_>

Norv past & present....

Norv isn’t the same guy you saw coaching the Skins or the Raiders. He seems a lot more polished in the last year and I think he’ll turn around his past debacles into pluses, having learned from his mistakes. This is no slam against Rex, who’s doing a good job turning the Jets into bona-fide winners.

I’m all Jets, but stats like these are why sometimes people bet the long shot.

I know Norv has such a bad rep

But.. come on guys? Is he that bad of a coach?

But.. come on guys? Is he that bad of a coach?Ill be contrarian for a second… and say that he’s not as bad as he is perceived to be.

Who has succeeded there over the last two decades? Since Jack Kent Cooke passed, the Redskins have had serious front-office turmoil. and in o-town… two words : Al Davis

Vegas must think something of him.

Compare the history to the present

If you;‘ve followed Norv throughout his career, he much more polished and poised than he was in the past, and seems to have competent assistants helping him. As a Jets fan, I’d like to believe his team will fold late in the game as a result of his abilities to lead, but I don’t think that’ll be the case.

The Jets can win, but if they do, it will be in spite of Norv, not because of him.

And I’m sober and can account for all of my chromosomes.

Agree!

and fwiw… I just looked….

USAToday posted an article, and had the coaching matchup as “even”. So we must not be the only drunkies

Accomplishments

Let’s not forget what he did as as a coordinator for dallas in the ’90’s.

And as a coach…Sure, it’s the AFC west… but hes won his division all three years that hes been there, and has got his team into the second round of the playoffs the last two years.

Say what you want, but Norv’s players are now buying into his system, and I think he does a great job of knowing his teams strengths and utilizing them.

Dont be so hard on the guy just because he failed in o-town and washington. Everyone failed there. Thats an impossible task
