UPDATED: Jets Rally This Friday
Here is the official announcement from newyorkjets.com:
The New York Jets invite fans to celebrate the team’s trip to the 2009 postseason Friday in Manhattan. The day features Jets alumni and Flight Crew appearances at the Jets Shop in New York City, followed by a pep rally outside SportsNet New York’s studios.
Former Jets greats Mark Gastineau and Joe Klecko will sign autographs and take photos with fans at the Jets Shop flagship store, 437 Madison Avenue at 50th Street, beginning at 10 a.m. Flight Crew cheerleaders Laura V. and Anne-Marie will be signing autographs. Fans who spend $100 or more at the Jets Shop on Friday will receive a $10 Jets Shop Gift Card for future purchase.
Gastineau and Klecko will then head across town to meet Wayne Chrebet at the playoff pep rally on the plaza at 1271 Avenue of the Americas outside the SNY studios, between 50th and 51st streets, at noon. 1050 ESPN Radio will be broadcasting live and distributing giveaways.
Fans are welcome to join former Jets players and Flight Crew members, listen to a live concert by Ready in 10, pick up giveaways and have the chance to win prizes. One lucky fan and a guest will be chosen during the rally to win a trip to see the Jets take on the Chargers in San Diego on Sunday.
So that's two locations, folks: The Jets Shop at 10am and SNY Studios at noon.
I'm not too familiar with how to get to the first location, but of course there's always Google Maps.
For the second one, it should be right across Radio City Music Hall, if you've been there before. Avenue of the Americas is 6th Avenue. If you're coming from the PATH trains or Penn Station, take the Uptown B, F, D or V at 34th Street. It will be the second stop.
You can actually walk east from there towards the Jets Shop on Madison if you want.
Unfortunately, I'll be stuck in the office with clients that day, but I hope many of you can make it. Let us know how it goes! Go JETS!!!

Unfortunately, I don’t know if many people knew of this at all. I just heard about it a few days before it was to happen. And then it was scheduled in the middle of a workday, so those who knew about it like me were stuck inside the office. With such short notice, I couldn’t reschedule my appointments.
Based on the footage I saw on SNY, the shots were pretty much medium and close-ups, which leads me to believe that the wide shots were not very usable. In other words, I doubt a lot of people were able to make it.
So I guess there’s another reason for us to hope the Jets win tomorrow. Maybe they can put together a more well-planned rally for an AFC Championship game (at home in the Meadowlands).
and the home of the... JETS!!!
