New York Jets Vs. New Orleans Saints
Why are people counting us out against the Saints. We are underdogs by six and a half points when we are 3-0. I think that having a great offense today is more tempting to the public. If our secondary is healthy, their offense would not produce nearly as much as they would of the first three weeks.
Another solution that would nearly guarantee a victory would be to have a dynamic run game. Thomas Jones an Leon Washington have to have big days having at least four yards a carry. Keeping the clock running, getting first downs, scoring touchdowns, and keeping Drew Brees off the field would make Week 4 less of a challenge. The one thin that can raise some concerns is the the Jets offensive line. Last week against the Titans, the Jets offensive line had no push except for a few plays here and there. It seemed that Jones and Washington were tackled either behind the line, at the line, or 1 to 2 yard gains. It was extremely frusturating watching this team struggle with their gameplan. That is never a good sign especially when we face the ex-Jet Jonathan Vilma with a sure chip on his shoulder to do some damage to his fomer team.

I understand the logic here...
If our secondary is healthy, their offense would not produce nearly as much as they would of the first three weeks.
But what might surprise you is that the Saints are the second best rushing team in the league, averaging 170 ypg. The Saints can get it done through the air AND on the ground. That’s why everyone realized after last week that the Saints are for real. They are dangerous in all areas.
Another solution that would nearly guarantee a victory would be to have a dynamic run game.
The point of your post was to point out how little respect the Jets are getting. Fair enough. But you don’t seem to be giving the Saints much respect either.
Can’t wait for this battle, it’s gonna be good!

the saints
also are 2nd against the run so getting 4 per will be a difficult task given your run prodution thus far
The Brees stops here
Rex will find the soft spot in the Saints O line.Thats Rex’s genius. The thing is, Brees is just outstanding under pressure.
The game is gonna be awesome.Like the movie Road House, the Jets are Dalton and the Saints are Jimmy.
Let loose the D Lunatics
Work the Clock
In all seriousness, the Jets have to work the run and run time off the clock for this one.
You're underdogs by six and a half points
because you have a rookie quarterback. It’s going to take awhile before Sanchez completely wins over bettors. Until then, they’ll go with the hot team with the hot quarterback playing at home.
Don’t take it too hard. We’ve been going around and around on the Saints blog over this very issue: would we rather have the respect of the media pundits, or fly under the radar? Personally, I wish the Saints could be underdogs in every game this year. I’d imagine Rex Ryan feels the same way about the Jets.

Whoever is saying the Saints made those three teams’ defensive numbers bad, think about it the opposite way. Maybe there defensives made their offensive numbers outstanding. I think playing buffalo and lions are two guarantee monster games. Philly is a different story but having no McNabb and a banged up Westbrook also should say something. Having played against Titans, who has had very unfortunate luck with the ways their games turned out, the Patriots, who are just an all around great coached team, and the Houston Texans, who have a solid passing offense, the Jets numbers are pretty accurate to how the season totals will equal out. Am I saying the Jets are going to go 16-0? No, they obviously aren’t but the opponents they played are at a higher caliber than the Saints opponents and show how the Jets react against good teams.
Let's see...
.. the Bills had clearly beaten the Pats, save for an unfortunate fumble. Philly had a top-ranked D and McRib’s backup, Kolb, was the first QB in history to record 300+ yds. passing in his first two starts. Even Detroit isn’t as bad as everyone thought they would be and played a good game against us. You can keep making excuses why your opponents are better in spite of their perfomances/records, but I wonder..
… what will your excuse be for your team if they leave New Orleans with an ‘L’? You might want to start working on it now.

The strangest thing to me is Saints fans talking about their defense like it's the steel curtain.
They played 2 good defensive games, in a windfest in Buffalo, NY where there was no air attack possible, and against the Lions. Kevin Kolb torched them for a ton of yards. The Saints are really good, but I’m a bit tired of of hearing how wonderful their defense is. I hear the pundits criticizing the Jets for not winning any big road games (because totally annihilating a top 5 offense on the road with a rookie HC, QB and brand new defensive scheme put in place for the first time isn’t impressive), but then praise N.O. for their defense. Really? They smoked the Lions and Bills, two awful teams and beat the Eagles without McNabb in a first half shoot out where they pulled away in the second half. Impressive, but I don’t see any intimidating defense here. None of those teams run the ball. The Lions are the Lions, and the Eagles and Bills pfind more success passing to their backs.
The Saints have not yet faced a team that will both commit to actually running the ball 30-40 times and has a defense that can contain that offense long enough to actually stick with that running commitment. This is going to be a good game, but I have a feeling that not so many people are going to be talking about how wonderful the Saints defense is after this week, whether they win or lose.

I don't want to come off like I don't like the Saints either.
They are my favorite team outside of the Jets and have been for a while. I love S.P. Love Bush, Pierre Thomas, Brees, Colston, Jon Vilma is my favorite football player in the NFL. I just get into this stuff on game week, and then will go back to rooting for them to kick the hell out of everybody all year long. I do think the Saints de is better, but is still has a little while to go before it gets up into the top tier defenses. As far as offense, they are the best. Thomas and Bell gives them a running game, their pass attack is second to none.

we're just excited
we don’t think it’s the steal curtain, but we do think they’re pretty good. Certainly better than anyone seems to want to give them credit for.

the thing about
teams running the ball 30 to 40 times against the saints is you basically cant. to keep up with thier offense you have to take chances, you go three and out once they will make you pay. now given, in the past this very thing would happen and frustrate the hell out of us, but now that we have a run game to compliment the pass attack, it will be very difficult to grind this team out.
Simply put
The Jets offense cannot keep pace with the Saints in a shootout, and the Jets D is going to be very depleted this week due to injury and at least one lingering suspension.
Pains me to say this won’t be much of a game.
