I never feel right writing about football on this day. My mind drifts to all of the innocent people who lost their lives eight years ago today in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania. It drifts to those who showed no regard for their own safety to try and help others. It drifts to the people who fought back against the hijackers to try and take back their plane, saving an unknown number of people. It drifts to all of those who lost fathers and mothers, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, friends, and others.
I know we're all excited about the season starting, but I think anything that has to do with the Jets can wait until tomorrow. We'll have a big conclusion to our Week 1 preview. I promise it will be great.
If you have any charities close to your heart, please post the link. I'll be sure to add it to the post.

You Sir, Are A Class Act!
Today is a hard day for many people, myself included, who were affected personally by the tragedy of the day. Eight years later and I still find it tremendously difficult to speak on the subject without getting choked up with emotion. So many lost, so needlessly. In my life time not much has occurred on the national or world front that has affected me as deeply or personally as this. God’s love to those who were lost and to those of us who remain behind to mend the broken pieces. For some of us, “Never Forget” is not just a slogan on a bumper sticker…it is reality.
September 11th 2001 will be forever burned into my soul and very being. It single-handedly changed who I was as a person in one fell swoop.
God bless you John.

The same thought was with me this morning
Had to honor the date somehow. Nice to see Jets and Pats fan having something in common, something a bit bigger than football. Thanks for the post.
Keep the faith!
I had the opportunity to meet with someone today who was in the room (at the school) with President Bush when he got the news from Andy Card about the attack.
Hearing that story from the inside really brought the memories back.
We pride ourselves in Texas on being tough and self reliant, but on that day we were all so very proud of New York and how New Yorkers responded on the world stage and looked every bit the America of our forefathers.
God Bless the USA!
