New York Jets at Baltimore Ravens Game Thread
New York Jets at Baltimore Ravens, Aug 24, 2009 8:00 PM EDT
Not that preseason really matters, but it would be nice if the Jets could at least hold their own against an elite defense on national television.
The most important thing really is the makeshift offensive line keeping Mark Sanchez in one piece. We'll see what the rookie is made of tonight.

I am loving Leon Washington right now. Good blocks being thrown by the OL right now

Definitely
The offensive line is controlling the trenches in the run game.

Leon Washington is the real bright spot
I’m pretty depressed by Sanchez’s outing though. Was hoping he’d be able to wrap this thing up tonight. Clemens isn’t dead yet.
So far overall
I am cautiously optimistic. While Sanchez is definitly looking unpolished, there’s been a lot to like overall

I knew he had it in him, as soon as they started getting him the ball more

Glaring indictment of Mangini he only got one offensive touch in the Seattle game last year.

it really is
think about how ridiculous that is, to not even get him a single touch.
Finally a nice toss by sanchez

I’d have to think that throw wraps up the starting job.

really?
i thought this mediocre performance tonight reopened the door for Clemens.

I do
I think for Clemens to have a shot, Sanchez had to totally fall on his face. The way he hung tough and finally hit that big pass is something I think the staff will like.

i think he's too fragile
no need to shatter the kid right off the bat… Clemens, by virtue of Sanchez not running away with it, has earned the job

agreed, that was inexcusable

Whats good people. Baltimore Fan here. Ruff start for ya boy Sanchez but he turned it around for a drive.
FEAR THE NEVERMORE DEFENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ouch
We’ve been saying that Clemens needs to be outstanding to top Sanchez, he can’t afford to make mistakes like this

just started watching
Anyone care to comment about Sanchez’ performance? I only saw one play in the first quarter and it was him throwing an int…
Very ugly early but he put together a nice touchdown drive his last series. Beautiful throw to Washington for a score.

Not to change the topic, but I think Gruden’s been excellent. He’s done his homework on the Jets.

surprising too
i didnt really expect much from him. it’d be nice if they could finally solidify that booth…well, until he gets hired again
Yeah, I like him
He’s so much better than Kornheiser. I love Tony on PTI, but he said some really stupid stuff.
2009 Mets---Mission: .500!
This new broadcast team has the potential to be really good. Jaws is the best nuts and bolts guy in the business.

Agreed. I like Vermeil also.
It helps that they were a player-coach combo and knew each other for so long. A lot of it comes down to chemistry in the booth.

yep
it’s not terribly difficult to find people who know the game (well, maybe not as well as Jaws, but well enough) but knowing each other is something that only comes with time.
Tho the current booth seems to be doing well and they havent been working together all that long…
stupid chevy equinox
cant get the commercial jingle out of my head! i wake up at night singing it…seriously.
Woodhead’s looked decent, but he needs to do something huge to make the team.

Easy guy to root for
just don’t see how he makes the roster, though.
