Plaxico Burress Plea Bargains, Gets Two Years in Prison
Former Giants receiver Plaxico Burress is plea bargaining and is expected to serve two years in prison.
The former New York Giants wide receiver pleaded guilty to one count of attempted criminal possession of a weapon, a lesser charge than he had faced. He will be sentenced Sept. 22, and lawyer Benjamin Brafman said he expects Burress to begin serving his sentence immediately after.
Burress got into a black SUV without speaking to reporters outside Manhattan state Supreme Court, but Brafman said, "After an agonizing period of discussion, Plaxico decided that he wanted to do this, to put this behind him as quickly as possible."
He was a tall number one receiver and capable of stretching the field. He would have been a perfect fit with the Jets. You can cross him off your list now.

Are they serious? Two years for shooting himself, yet Stallworth gets out with 20 days for murdering a man. Thats messed up

The wording of your statement does make it seem quite unjust. However, Plaxico was not charged with “shooting himself in the leg like a dumbass”, he was charged with illegal possession of a firearm, which if he was convicted of, would have carried a minimum 3 1/2 year sentence. And Stallworth’s case doesnt exactly fit the standard definition of murder. He was convicted of 2nd degree manslaughter which is basically killing someone accdiently while committing an illegal act (dwi). Stallworth’s jail time may seem too lenient to most, but he also received 2 years house arrest, 1000 years community service, 8 years probation, and is never allowed to have a driver’s license in FL.

I’m sorry, but I just can’t agree with this assertion. The word manslaughter is in the criminal charge. That by definition is murder.

manslaughter is not murder
MANSLAUGHTER – The unlawful killing of a human being without malice or premeditation, either express or implied; distinguished from murder, which requires malicious intent.
MURDER the unlawful killing of another human being with intent (or malice aforethought)
separated into degrees in our legal system…
thus concludes your law lesson for the day
