Jets, trust me, are in Dire Straits at WR
I have a question for the editors of this blog. Don't get me wrong, I'm an avid reader and first-time poster (I just figured out that I could post. Stop mocking me!), and I love your work. But what's with this relaxed and accepting attitude towards the Jets situation at wideout? Is it just me, or do we appear to be nailed to the wall?
And it only goes downhill from there. Stuckey, Wright, and Clowney are all athletic and seem like they might have a shred of talent between them, but if they haven't even gotten on the field with consistency on these Jets teams, with the exception of the injured Clowney, what does that say about what our own coaches actually think of them?
Furthermore, Dustin Keller is being billed as the savior of our tight end position, and the best Jet TE since...have we ever had a great tight end? Is Anthony Becht (or Kyle Brady's short stint) the benchmark, or am I just too young? This opinion has been voiced because "no linebacker can cover him," but if we only have one viable wideout, doesn't that mean that a linebacker doesn't have to guard him? They can put a safety on him and neutralize him, right? Am I crazy? And did he really open up the field that much last year, again, with Coles?
Of course, all of these questions go out the window if, and I stress that I'm literally begging the football gods right here, we get Anquan Boldin or Braylon Edwards. Then we're talking 2nd round of the playoffs minimum (think Joe Flacco...but with Anquan Boldin and three actually good running backs).
But seriously, am I the only one legitimately panicked about this?

Nice perspective. Thanks for sharing. I’m interested to see what everybody thinks.

And I think adding a WR has to be a priority
if for no other reason than to help out the rookie. If they don’t, we’ll be seeing 8 and 9 man fronts all year long. I’m a big advocate of Plaxico Burress.

Giants fans
are all about dissing Burress now that he’s gone, but I don’t think he’s a sidelines cancer and I think he’ll come back with a vengeance. He’d be a great pickup.

It's a bit bleak.
The Jets will really miss Coles. Thomas Jones is going to have to step up his game if the Jets don’t get someone new.

I have mixed feelings on Coles.
I’m sure the Jets offense will miss him, and as a player he’s a tough son of a gun. I would even say I was sad to see him go but dude just got so whiny and ….I dunno what the cussing policy is so I’ll say itchy…with a b in front. I’d also like to add a mofo in there for a lil’ spice. He’s just gotten on my nerves with the complaining since they benched and then traded Chad(which was kinda unfair) So I gotta say I’m happy he’s not here if he doesn’t wanna be here. I’ll miss his talent but otherwise good riddance and good luck losing in Cincy.

I agree with Grady90
the Jets will miss coles but that doesn’t mean go and waste money on any WR
these are the only WRs I will go after
Plaxico Burress
Brandon Edwards
Marvin Harrison
i know marvin is old but he has two years left in his tank he could possible be a soild pickup but don’t chase any WR thats not better then the ones we got just because we need one i say those three on we play with what we got and be a running team with thomas jones leon washington and Shonn green

Jets Receivers
If you look at who we have competing for #2, theres a lot of potential. Wright has the size and speed to become a solid #2. At 6’6, hes a beast in the red zone, and if he betters his routes, I could see him as a decent #2. Clowney has all the potential in the world. The guys a burner, being able to beat most NFL corners off the line and get open. Both Clowney and Wright have terrific potential and should be great contributers some where down the line

Matt Jones
I’m also a Cowboys fan (as you can tell by my avatar and signature) and on the ‘Boys blogs there are always the few fans who ask about acquiring Matt Jones, but Jerry isn’t going to touch him, it seems.
What would you think if the Jets got him?

Lets go with what we have!!
Its funny that everyone has amnesia immediately the Jet WR depth gets mentioned. I say what is wrong with the players we have? Has anyone watched brad smith and clowney during practice ? Stuckey flies. If hue jackson had no faith is these guys then there would have been a trade or signing by now.
Time and time again, the best WR’s the jets have ever had are the one’s we draft and develop compared to the free agents.
Keyshawn, coles, Wayne chrebet, Moss, brady
Remember justin MC and the lost 2nd rounder to the titans ?
This offense will average 17-29 ppg at the most, so i don’t think any FA or trade will make a difference since this season is more focused on the defense. It will depend on play calling and the maturity of Sanchez. Let’s give this guys a chance.
Oh, and anyone who thinks Harrison has anything left should get the last 6ix colts tape.
