Once again no QB in site..same old Jets!

Once again the Jets find themselves on the outside looking in on the Quarterback game.   While I was a first believer in Kellen Clemons and I still don't think he ever got a fair shot from the Jets coaching staff under "Mangenius. " But  a whole season is a big deal to most winning teams and I know that puts the Jets in a tough spot cause winning has always been a new experience.  Instead of taking shots at Hall of Famer Brett Farve they should have been listening to what he was saying during the season. He commented the same way most Jets fans feel about where the hell is the enthusiasm?   Instead we hear an under-achiever like Thomas Jones bitch about a guy who just one season earlier was one pass away from being in the Super Bowl!  Who in one season with the Jets set a single game touchdown mark that even Joe Willy Namath hadn't done!  Meanwhile Jones couldn't convert on three crucial 3rd and 4th down situations against a paltry Miami defense in the last game of the year. I don't hold out much hope for the draft this is a team that passed on Dan Marino in favor of Ken O'Brien!   That isn't ancient history either they passed on Matt Leinart, Brady Quinn to mention only a few!  There is a culture of losing on the Jets that really only got broken during the Bill Parcels tenure.   Herman Edwards may have instilled discipline but in a classic typical Jet manuever in what would have been the greatest upset in not only Jet football history but in NFL history he chose to run the ball one more time against the 15-1 Pittsburgh Steelers who of course were at home no less.  The defense had played great intercepting a green Ben Rothlisberger twice returning one for a touchdown and special teams really were special with Santana Moss returning a punt for a go ahead touchdown.

The Steelers got one of only two drives for a TD that day to tie the game  then the Jets got the ball back with enough time to run out the clock and win with a field goal or touchdown.  The TD was out of the question as the offense had done nothing all day.  But a couple of runs and a timely pass later the Jets were at the Steelers 37/38 yard line.  With 8 seconds left on the clock Herman Edwards showed how coaches as well as players in the Jet culture have always choked!  He decides to run another play because the Steelers might score with five seconds left????!!!!  They lose 3 precious yards pushing the kick past the 45 where a flaky kicker named Doug Brien who had missed two extra points the year before for the Vikings was not very good!  He missed that one plus another one 4 yards shorter in overtime where again Edwards ran one more play losing yardage!   Then Pittsburg gets the ball back goes down the field and kicks the winning field goal.  Typical Jets!  Turning what could have been their greatest upset since Super Bowl III into a sorry loss!   So don't expect anything dynamic out of the Jets in the draft and if this new Jet coach does turn out to be a great builder of defenses then expect the Jet offense to stink to compensate just as it was in Baltimore till a kid named Flacco came along!  Trouble is Rex had nothing to do with Bmore getting Flocco and truth be told if he wasn't from right in their back yard (Delaware?) I doubt they would have taken him.

You ain't kidding either!

Great post…almost had me crying again, reliving the stupidity of that game. While I don’t hold on to much hope for this coming season (at least not offensively)….I’m still just another Jets wh*re.
