Jets Trying to Trade Up?
Rich Eisen's Twitter page says the Jets are trying to move up to number 2 to take Mark Sanchez.
Mayock just got a text that the Jets are trying to make a play and get up to No. 2 in the draft!!! Stay tuned on that one!
A recent quote from Mike Mayock on NFL Network is "My phone is blowing up," because of this rumor. It could cost the Jets two first round picks.

if the Jets did that
would they start Sanchez immediately or give Clemens and Ratliff the start of the season?

CRAP!
No!
I got a gut feeling if we trade up that high were either taking Curry or Crabtree, but even if we pick Sanchez it seems like a bit to much
apparently the competing team
is the Skins… ha!

what are they giving up?
this years 1st (17th) and next year’s 1? I dont like having to give all that guaranteed $ to the player selected 2. I’d much rather be able to trade to 8 or so and land him. And for Namath’s sake please dont trade for Jason Campbell. their 2nd rounder? I’d rather keep it; if I’m trading it for anyone its Boldin.
Next year is a very deep Draft too
I wouldn’t be happy.

I dont know if its NY or what..
but fans just can’t deal with their team possibly “rebuilding” (gasp!) for a year or two. Everyone needs to WIN NOW. Unfortunately more times than not, this blows up in their face and sets the team back a few years. There is no need to significantly handicap yourself in the future for a slight better chance of getting “over the hump” this year. Great teams are cultivated they just dont pop up overnight.
Weve been building...
For the past three years, ever since we fired/traded Herm, we better be winning now
how is the favre move rebuilding?
If the Jets really wanted to rebuild, they would have went with Clemens/Ratliff last year and this year would have been sitting in a nice position to select Sanchez (7-12ish) and have another 3rd rounder! They have too much pressure to “win now” especially after their cross town rivals beat the pats and won the super bowl. And furthermore, Sanchez isnt ready to step in and be the starter. So we’ll still wind up going with Clemens/Ratliff (with Sanchez counting big $ on the bench because of his selection spot) until they dont perform to “standards” and everyone starts pushing prematurly for Sanchez, creating another negative dynamic. So we’ll wind up with a good 1st round pick which will go somewhere else further qb turmoil. By the time Sanchez does come into form (providing he does) he’ll be in position to want to negotitate a new deal! It would just turn into a huge mess.
I think Ozone’s point is there are two ways to win. You can cut corners looking for the quick fix or try to build a lasting foundation. As crazy as it sounds, in this case getting the young QB seems like the former.
