Let me first preface this by saying I’m sorry if this was already a topic of discussion on here.
With that said, who would the Jets possibly trade to Denver for Cutler? I’m hesitant to see anyone move on D, and I’d hate to see us develop a whole on the offensive line to pick up a quarterback that in turn won’t be protected as well.
Do you think Denver would take the first round pick and either Clemens or Ratliff in exchange for Cutler?

It’ll probably be a ton of Draft picks. Because of cap implications, there aren’t many player for player trades in the NFL. The Jets are going to be parting with a significant chunk of their 2009 and 2010 picks for Cutler. It could be two first round picks plus. Proven 25 year old QB’s don’t grow on trees. Denver’s probably going to want a new starting quarterback also unless they love Chris Simms. I don’t think Clemens or Ratliff are proven enough or have enough hype to fit the bill. They’ll probably need to find a third team. Cleveland has two quarterbacks, and Tannenbaum and Mangini still seem to be on decent terms. That might be the match. You’d have to question why the Browns wouldn’t just deal for Cutler themselves if they have the ammo, but maybe there are some former Jets Mangini could swing their way to make it worth his while. Cimini speculated Bryan Thomas, Leon Washington, and David Harris all have tradable contracts. Thomas is expendable. I don’t think you’d deal Washington and take away the best playmaker on the team. Maybe Harris if there’s a middle linebacker they love in the middle rounds.
I’ve heard Arizona with Leinart as another possibility as a third team. I’m not sold. How high is Leinart’s stock right now? Would Arizona really deal its heir apparent with Warner perhaps a year from retirement?
You hit on a great point, Frank. That question is just one of the reasons I personally don’t want to see a trade for Cutler.
