No Alcohol at the Meadowlands Sunday
In a move I am sure will make some of you going to the game unhappy, the NJSEA announced yesterday no alcohol will be put on sale Sunday.
No alcohol will be served at the game, a decision the team made after consulting with the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority. The parking lots will open 5 hours before the 8:20 p.m. kickoff for tailgating.
"The organization approaches the decision of whether to serve alcohol on a game-by-game basis, with input from the NJSEA," Jets spokesman Bruce Speight said. "With the late start of Sunday's game, coupled with this being the final regular-season and final game at the stadium, we feel it is prudent not to serve alcohol."

I think this is safe.
I’m underage so it doesn’t matter to me and we might have a riot if we lose.
Doesn’t make too much of a difference, instead of fans being hammered in the 4th quarter they will be drunk in the first because they will just overload in the tailgate anyway. I can see what they are trying to do, but I’m not surprised if round jersey their are a lot of hip flasks sold this weekend. People will take in that, buy a coke and tip it in. On the outside it makes sense, in reality it makes little difference.

True, but if anything does happen, the team or the stadium can’t be easily sued for it.
and the home of the... JETS!!!

If that were the case would they also not have to ban drinking at the tailgate as that is part of the stadium and owned by the Jets is it not?

It seems as though it would be tougher to nail them for this since they are not actually serving the beer. There’s precedent for bars and airplanes to be sued for serving people. I’m not an attorney, though, so I couldn’t say 100%.

Horseshit. It’s going to be 10 degrees wind chill, no ones going to want to tailgate for 4-5 hours outside.
After a couple hrs, people will be ready to go inside the stadium and grab a beer!
I was not happy upon waking up this morning : (.
26 years of tradition, why break it in the last game in the stadium? Did they serve beer at the giants game last week? Yes they did!!!
