Rooting Guide (Besides the Jets)

Now considering we want the Bengals to have a seed locked up before our game, we can have a number of ways to root this weekend.

1. The first being that they are locked into the 4th seed. Now this only happens if New England wins. Even After that Strength of victory is a factor.

3 of the important games are Buff vs Indi, Pitt vs Miami, and Cleveland vs Jax

Now if either Buff, Miami, or Jax wins and New england wins they are locked into the 4th spot.

If  all 3 of those dont happen they need 4 of 5 games to go there way with a couple of Upsets

(NO over Car) (KC over DEN) (SEA over TENN) (Bal over Oak) (GB over AZ)

2. The 2nd is basically fear of getting the 3rd spot.

For this basically we would want Pitt to lock up the 6th seed because no team will want them. Not even the Bengals who beat them twice.

For this we need a Pittsburgh win over Miami and an Oakland win over Baltimore.

This gives them the option of us or Pittsburgh. IMHO thats a clear choice. You want the rookie qb and coach over the defending champs.

3. Locking them into 3rd seed before our game.

Yes its possible. Basically the opposite of option one

Pitt over Miami

Cleveland over Jax

Hou over NE

Indy over Buff

THEN 4 of the next 5

(NO over Car) (KC over DEN) (SEA over TENN) (Bal over Oak) (GB over AZ)

I know this is all confusing but all in all, if New England wins, its almost certain they rest their starters. Because the outcomes in option 2 are the opposite of the option 1, there is 1 outcome where it would make sense to play to win.

If New England loses we better hope option 2 happens

If none of them happen, who knows maybe Marvin Lewis may thinks its an advantage to basically have your team watch your playoff matchup in person.

It really doesnt make sense for them to play their starters.
