A Successful Business Trip North of the Border
This game was probably closer than it should have been, but a win is a win. This was a second straight great team effort. Gang Green is back to .500 for the first time since the bye. We can mention the phrase "winning streak" for the first time since September. Props to the NFL for turning what's normally a hostile division road trip into a spring game atmosphere.
Now the Jets get to reap the benefits of a Thursday game, ten days to prepare to play one of the very worst teams in the league. Let's hope the extra time off is enough to get Mark Sanchez ready to play because Kellen Clemens looked lost out there.
Also we're getting to the point where if Darrelle Revis doesn't win the Defensive Player of the Year Award, the voters just haven't paid attention at all this year.

Revis?
More like Sharper. Not that our boy D isn’t in the running for it, but get serious.
Anyone but Clemens ’09.
as long as they don’t just upgrade Ainge to backup and O’Connel to 3rd String. I’d like to see us bring in a vet qb for backup again.
"So basically, the Stats make no sense whatsoever."
Vet QB for backup
Who would you have in mind? This is a formula that has worked well for the Jets in the past, but I can’t immediately think of a veteran who is currently a backup but has played well.
QB FA's
Leftwhich, Pennington, Batch, Boller, Carr, Culpepper, Harrington.
Out of that list I’d most want Leftwhich or Pennington, with Boller being a close 3rd.
Others who may be FAs but may not be available are
Campbell, Jackson, Ratliff
I think Campbell is good on a horrible/Dumb Redskins team. Jackson not so much, and Ratliff at least knows the system. In the whole Pool I’d probaby go Leftwhich/Pennington then Campbell then Boller.

I think Chad retired.
Culpepper would have been good for this year. I like Leftwhich.
Sharper is probably more likely to win it because of stats
but let’s be honest, with the way Revis is playing right now, if he was on the Saints playing in Sharper’s safety spot he’d probably have twice as many picks and pick-6s. Sharper doesn’t play man-to-man against a team’s best receiver all game long and completely dominate like Revis.
Don’t get me wrong. If you asked me to pick between the two for my own imaginary team building I’d take Revis all the way. I’ll take the clutch shutdown corner over the vet with the flash in the pan stat season any day.
But unless sharper flat out stops generating turnovers and blows coverage folks that matter will take on look at the stats and vote Sharper overwhelmingly. Especially if the Jets miss the playoffs.
Don't underestimate the NY factor...
Revis will get a lot of coverage by playing in NY. It started on ESPN last nite. All the analysts agree that he is the best corner in the game and allows ur defense to do so much. The word will get out.
He actually got a lot of exposure last night. They talked about him a bunch, even showed him picking which shoes to wear on the turf, and the coverage ended with an on-field interview.
So people are definitely noticing, and I think he will win it if he keeps playing at a high level.
and the home of the... JETS!!!
nobody here is arguing that Sharper is better
Simply that he will win DPOTY sooner. Which he will. I have no doubt that if this or many other blogs were voting Revis would be a shoe-in, but that’s not the case.
If the season were to end now and you think Revis would win the award against a vet taking an unbeaten defensive squad to the playoffs with monster stats on the verge of shattering season records, you are either crazy or just ignorant to the AP process.
Peyton Manning won last year, does that make him better than Drew Brees or any of the QB’s that put up better numbers that year? It’s not about what is right or fair. It’s about what the consensus will be at the end of the season and the majority almost always votes off of two factors alone; whether or not the team is in the playoffs and who had a better season on paper.
Nobody will be happier than me to be wrong about this, if that winds up being the case.
Clemens just did not look ready, kind of surprising since he should have gotten more reps because of Sanchez’s other knee.
I hope Sanchez’s knees dont become a reoccurring thing since he injured his left knee in college, hurt his left knee last week, and hurt his right knee this week.
I'll be honest...
I immediately thought “oh god Joe Namath part 2”
Congratulation to the victory!
I watched the gane. revis is a beast! Keep on winning Jets!!!!!

Freakin' Braylon...
20 yards open and he facemasks the TD…WTF. we should have won that game by 3 touchdowns.
