Will the Jets Be Flexed?
The NFL doesn't assign a Week 17 Sunday Night game on NBC until the actual week of the game. The network wants to make sure the game means something. After today's events, there's a guarantee the Jets-Bengals game will mean something. No matter what happens, the Jets will be in the Playoffs with a win and out with a loss.

I think Dallas against Philadelphia is the biggest competition. That's a live game in a bitter rivalry.
Do you think the Jets will be flexed to their first ever NBC Sunday Night game?

Yes, I posted my argument over at CincyJungle
What this game has over the Eagles-Cowboys is that both of those other teams could already have a playoff spot when they play….less drama. Also, do they really want the Cowboys two weeks in a row?
I think the fact that this game doesn’t depend on others for playoff implications is a huge point in its favor. Also, you have the huge New York media market factor, the Bengals are a good story (Henry death), and it’s the final game at Giants Stadium,

True
but there’s always that chance that Cinci might bench their guys because they have the div. locked up…
2nd string players losing is not really National TV material.
Bengals are still playing for seeding though
No. 3 vs. No. 4 seed. And they may feel obliged to try to win.
Think about it though. What if the Bengals rest Carson, Benson, Ochocinco and others? Has there ever been a team that made the playoffs because their last two opponents pulled their starters? There would be a huge outcry over that.

Next Week
Pats will play at 1 against the Texans and i think they win and they clinch the 3rd seed…so at 8 the Bengals don’t have much to play for…
Obviously there’s a chance they lose but will NBC take that chance….? I don’t think so…
Probably right
Especially if the Jets winning keeps the Steelers out of the playoffs. But if Texans and Ravens lose, then the Steelers are already in.

True but are the Ravens going to lose to the Raiders with Frye as QB, Raiders did just get beat by the Browns. Thinking Ravens take that one pretty easily.

If DAL wins tonight
Then the PHI/DAL would mean nothing because they both would be in the playoffs. So i don’t see how we are not playing a game at 8:30 next week.Plus it will be the last game at the Meadowlands , NBC will eat that up
DWDLD
And if Dallas loses
they are still depending on the correct result from the Giants game next week. Giants would need to win to give that game meaning. They don’t want to depend on other games.

The game would be for the NFC East title.

True, but both would already be in the playoffs
And the fact that Dallas is on tonight hurts their chances of being on next week. I still think there are too many points in the Jets-Bengals favor.

I wanna see your game guys next SNF
This Dal-Wasington game is a joke and a shame to be broadcasted on primetime with fley scheduling in NBC’s hand.
And by the way; good luck against Cincy. You have a good team; very nice and classy fans; so go to the playoffs Jets!!!!

If we handle our business though, we get a crack at them in the play-offs and beating them will make up for having to cheer for them

I can see it now
Bengals nothing to play for. They go into the Bob Bratkowski-patented “Don’t Try Offense” for a half and then rest everybody. Don’t show the Jets anything. Then beat em the next week in the playoffs.
Bengals also have incentive to lay down for the Jets if it means keeping the hated Steelers out of the playoffs.

Anyways as a Bengals fan
Good luck next week. I fully expect the Jets to win that game Sunday night. And I hope they win a playoff game (that isn’t against the Bengals).
Normally, I despise all things New York (Yankees, Mets, Giants, etc). But for some reason, I’ve never been able to work up a hatred for the Jets.
